NCAA National Championship game

They didn’t go “conservative” on that series. They threw the ball on first and third down. On third down they only needed three yards and still threw it.

Yep... Just didn't execute. I was slightly surprised they didn't go conservative and run the ball to try and steal a first down and run some clock.

WTF did it take the NCAA so long to make a CFB playoff? We got 1 good and 2 incredible games out of this playoff. Contrast this season with a year like 2004 where OU gets stomped by USC after a fairly predictable regular season.

Time to expand to 8 teams.

Hell no to 8 teams. Mid Majors like UCF have no business being in the playoff. The whole playoff plan of 5 champs, one group of 5 school and two wild cards is a bunch of mularkey....

If a group of 5 school makes the playoff, they are likely the last seed, which means they play the 1 seed. That game would be a blowout every single year. To top it off, its a foregone conclusion that any coach that gets a Group of 5 school to a playoff spot will likely bolt for a bigger/better job thus leaving an interim coach for the Group of 5 school for the playoff game.

No sympathy playoff bids for the UCF's of the world.

If any expansion happens, it needs to be 6 teams where 1/2 seeds get a bye.

Hate the idea of conference champs getting automatic bids. We got the two best teams in the country in the natty for the past 4 seasons. Ain't broke, no fixes needed.

Yeah, no.

You continue to be wrong as ever.

You don't deserve a break.
Playing to preserve the lead and not having the balls to go on 4th down cost him a natty.

The biggest college football game in the country, there are 4+ minutes left on the clock, you're playing against ALABAMA, it's 4th down and all you need is 3 yards to convert. It's Georgia though so let's not risk it and just give the ball back to bama. Ball-less, but you won't understand that because you're a Georgia guy.

Nah, tie game, 4th and 3 from your own 38 when your QB is clearly shook is not a good gamble. Fromm couldn't even hang onto his mouthpiece running out on the field, he was so nervous. Then he missed that easy throw. It actually ended up being the right call because Bama missed the FG, so not sure why you're arguing this. Georgia moved backwards the next time they had the ball.

You couldn't be more wrong. UCF beat the one team who beat Georgia and Alabama.

Expand to 8 and given any undefeated team an automatic bid

Why any fan would say no to more games that matter is beyond me. What are you afraid of? If UCF is such an easy out, then just skip watching that game and watch the other 6.

UCF's coach stuck around for a game that did not matter. Why even make that point about interim coaches?

So UCF is the best team in the country because of transitive property? That's not how this works. The participation trophy mindset of people these days is truly sad.

I’m actually good with 4. If we expand to 8, next it will be 16. There will always be a team or two from outside looking in, but if you win during the regular season at the right time you’re in. I say leave it to 4

Have to disagree with you there.

Plus I don't want to see it expanded to 8.

I'd say the five P5 champions, the top ranked G5 team or Independent and the remaining two best ranked teams.

With the early signing period it would be difficult for a coach to do 3 more games and still recruit for the new school.

Scott Frost is the only exception to that rule.

Why do they waste weeks playing teams that you'll crush.
I know it keeps small school athletics afloat?
Just donate the money, rather than playing the games.
Play top teams outside conference in place of the 2 or 3 pointless games.
Keep playoff system same.

Horrible idea. Cause when the SEC gets 3 teams in, it be idiots talking about a 12/16 team playoff like the NFL.

I agree. That's not how this works. No one is asking for a participation trophy, just a chance to participate.

There should never be an undefeated team on the outside looking in. At 8 you can fix that. Automatic bids for any undefeated teams

I don't think UCF could beat UGA or Bama, but I think it'd have been an interesting game against Clemson and OU.
