NCAA Open Jobs Thread

I haven't paid much attention to Fresno State lately, but Pat Hill did a great job putting that program on the map. Seems they haven't taken the next step.

he started out OK..but this was their worst year since 1978..looks like he will get one more but will have to fire his OC

Some good coaches on the list for Central Florida..if they could get any of these guys it would be a good hire imo

UCF: Rivals.com reports that UCF’s search is focused on four candidates: Bowling Green head coach Dino Babers, North Carolina defensive coordinator Gene Chizik, Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins and Florida co-defensive coordinator Randy Shannon. The site adds that interviews are expected to happen Saturday and Sunday.

Randy Shannon is an interesting possibility. He's got lots of South Florida and Miami recruiting connections that UCF needs if they're going to rebuild the program.

I wonder where Les Miles would end up if LSU let him go?

Looks like he'll have some good options.

6 losses by a total of 22 points? With 10 of those in the worst loss to Purdue. 5 losses by a total of 12 points...that's a tough row to hoe!

I mentioned it in another thread, but anyone think Bo Pelini might get considered for one of the (many) open jobs?

I mean, he's at Youngstown State. Not what most would consider a destination job.

It would surprise me not if Pat Haden at SC makes a run at him. Great match, showtime atmosphere, recruits itself, Mad Hatter as a coach, great weather for old bones.

Tulane will open up this weekend

Tulane: Tulane plans to fire head coach Curtis Johnson after the Green Wave’s finale against Tulsa Friday, according to Dan Wolken of USA Today.

LSU assistant Frank Wilson will probably get that job.

With Pinkel and co. out at the end of the day, should Indiana keep Kevin Wilson with a win over Purdue today, maybe he should try going after Missouri's d-coordinator.

So very excited to watch the coaching carousel begin next week. This should be a better show than next years presidential election.

Another guy Maryland should consider.

Two questions:

1) Who is LSU going to get that you can legitimately say is better than Les Miles other than Jimbo Fisher?

2) Why in God's name would Jimbo Fisher leave Florida State for LSU. That just screams stupidity to me.

Looks like Les is indeed gone

LSU: Les Miles in “an indirect but clear manner” indicated to the Tigers’ Gridiron Club tomorrow’s game with Texas A&M will indeed be his last at LSU, according to Cody Worsham of Tiger Rag. As Scott discussed on Baton Rouge’s ESPN radio this morning, this is real. LSU football noted tonight via twitter that Les has not resigned and did not say he plans to resign. Les isn’t resigning, this is being driven by his athletic director.

Moving forward, sources tell FootballScoop that athletic director Mack Rhoades is ready to interview, make a decision and get his new head coach to Columbia.

Per sources, Toledo head coach Matt Campbell is expected to interview and is considered a strong candidate. Sources tell FootballScoop that Campbell, who is quite content at Toledo, would accept the opportunity to become the next head coach at Missouri if offered, adding, “and he’d be the exact leader that place needs. He’s a team builder. Strong personality that people gravitate towards.”

Defensive coordinator Barry Odom is expected to receive an interview as well.

After his messy divorce and all the off the field issues, he may just want a change of scenery.

I was thinking Indiana should go after him as defensive coordinator but if he's getting an interview with Missouri, sounds like he could be a head coach at a smaller school at the very least therefore being a defensive coordinator for Indiana is beneath him. But if he remains defensive coordinator, he may went to check out Oregon's situation. Their defense is offensive. And so it their offense. Offense really isn't the problem up in Eugene, now defense... yuck.
