NCAA Open Jobs Thread

Do you think Temple head coach Matt Rhule or Missouri defensive coordinator Barry Odom will be the next Memphis head coach? I saw their names mentioned on the MemphisTigers.org message board.

Don't know about Rhule..but I think Odom gets the Missouri job players and Pinkel pushing for him

Missouri: Alex Marvez of Fox Sports reported tonight Barry Odom will have a second interview.

I think Memphis should interview Jeff Brohm or Hudspeth of Louisiana-Lafayette. The Memphis fans were talking about Lincoln Riley being a possible candidate for the head coaching job.

Richt's only 55. He's definitely got a few years left.

Miami just makes so much sense. Former alumnus, big name, guy with a track record, can help provide stability to that program. Miami should offer him $3-4M and call it a day.

Since Mark Richt just got fired,do you think Miami may hire him as Head Football Coach? He would be a great hire for Miami

Richt will most likely take a year off, play some golf, catch a tan and then go home and take over the Nebraska program IMO.

Nebraska>>>>>Miami.

I don't think there are enough quality coaches for all these spots. This will be a major bidding war year. Some top schools are just gonna be left out.

Richit's phone is probably blowing up already. I think he goes to Miami but I could see most places contacting him.

Nebraska doesn't have the high school football talent that the Miami-South Florida area has. Richt could do well every season recruiting there.

I'd be surprised if Richt coaches again. Isn't he pretty involved in ministry and his faith. I could see him focusing on that, but who knows. I am sure he wouldn't mind taking some needed time off.

Miami is his alma mater. Seems like an easy match for both.

Larry Fedora...

2008 Southern Miss 7–6
2009 Southern Miss 7–6
2010 Southern Miss 8–5
2011 Southern Miss 12–2
2012 North Carolina 8–4
2013 North Carolina 7–6
2014 North Carolina 6–7
2015 North Carolina 11–1

He was born in College Station and he played football for a DIII school in Austin. If Texas loses to Baylor and finishes 4-8 in Strong's 2nd season, any chance they fire him? I don't see anywhere for Fedora to go at the moment but the fact that he's been so good in year 4 with his players twice now, another 10 win season at NC next year and everyone will be wanting him. Then again, I suppose Texas would have their pick of the litter and could still get him next off-season probably. I feel like Willie Taggart could be a target for Missouri but if Texas were to fire Strong, he's from Arkansas and played at Central Arkansas. Missouri is right in Arkansas and Texas back yard.

Richt was born in Nebraska but it's not really "home". He grew up in Boca and has spent a great deal of his life in FL. It's infinitely more "home" than Nebraska.

Willie Taggart is not going to Missouri. He's coaching 30 miles from his hometown, he's almost untouchable on the recruiting trail in the Tampa Bay area and he believes he has all the resources he needs to compete for a NC at USF. It will take a huge job, and likely one in FL to get him to leave.

Memphis offers their job to Barry Odom, who is also up for the Missouri job

Memphis: Some names to keep an eye on for the Memphis head coaching job include Missouri defensive coordinator Barry Odom and Chattanooga head coach Russ Huesman. Both are former Memphis assistants. UPDATE: The Commercial Appeal reports Odom has been offered the job.

James Franklin firing coaches

Penn State: Offensive coordinator / tight ends coach John Donovan has been dismissed. Donovan spent the past five years with James Franklin, including the past two at Penn State. The Nittany Lions scored 23.7 points per gamethis year, No. 101 nationally. Keep track of open FBS assistant jobs here.
