NCAA panel recommends marijuana be dropped from banned substance list

LOL

Like all industries that prey upon vices, such as gambling or pornography, pot is less about actually helping people and more about keeping them hooked and paying.

Though at this point it seems almost impossible to put this destructive genie back in the bottle, any state, company, or person truly interested in helping others will work to reign in the reckless peddling of recreational marijuana use.
I'm sure you would agree we should stop peddling alcohol as well.

Perhaps we should lobby Peyton to stop peddling his high proof bourbon? After all, hard whiskey can be much more harmful than marijuana

Perhaps you should reread my post and maybe you’ll figure out that those comments were copied and pasted from the link above the post I was replying to. Derp.

Lol. Weed is definitely not a pain med. That's like a pothead answer. It might help with a headache but not serious pain.
Almost any form of intoxicant can serve as a pain reducer. Not nearly as risky as opioids or things of that nature. I’d also argue it’s less dangerous than hard liquor. I’m not a weed guy either, personally I can’t stand stoner culture

My story is as follows. At 61 years old, I had never touched the demon weed. As a Marine Officer, my culture was very anti-marijuana. As a pilot, I could not touch it anyway as we were susceptible to monthly urinalysis. I have had high blood pressure for some time, but it had been managed to FAA specifications for years. Daily monitoring of my BP revealed that I had a spike and I called in sick. 210/104 is not good. It would not go down with the meds the Drs prescribed.

After I had to retire from flying, a friend suggested I try a hit of his THC vape. Thought I had killed myself, LOL. Next morning my BP was 122/77. Half a gummy every other day keeps it in that area. Yea, I have changed my tune on weed. It keeps me alive.

Can you explain exactly how destructive marijuana is?

It's a thread about the NCAA. ie brains under the age of ~22-24 years old their (our) brains are still developing so, alcohol or marijuana or any other intoxicant should be avoided.

If those same people want to do something against their own interest, that's up to them, but don't look for societal help or much sympathy when they realize the downside to the choices they've made. The problem with younger people is their judgment isn't too good sometimes, so rules and laws are created to help them and to set societal expectations.

No one is asking for “help” or “sympathy” but rather how is it destructive?

Sure, everyone makes bad decisions. Why should this specific decision be banned is the real question. We could argue for complete government control of everyone’s life if your claim is just “people make bad decisions!”

Yes, people with years of intense medical training based on peer-reviewed scientific research based on data that has built on past research/data, and who are certified based on that training, are far more qualified to proffer medical diagnoses/opinions than people on message boards who call themselves influencers and watch YouTube videos that appeal to their own ignorance, fears, and biases.

The way a large swath of our population has decided to simply dismiss experts in their field, as if their training, certifications, and data-driven approach mean nothing, is a large reason why we are living in an idiocracy.

But, I had a cousin who had a friend whose little brother did marijuana one time and he became a satanist and jumped off the roof of his house. Because of that, all marijuana users are crazed maniacs that will eat babies then hijack a plane to crash it into the mountains. Anybody who disagrees with me must be an addict.

Elon Musk might disagree. Just saying. . . . .

100%.

And for those who think it's cool for athletes to get high before competition, look into the actual physiologic effects of THC. I would rather not pay $2400/yr to watch intoxicated players, thank you.

Lol cmon old man , are guys downing a six pack or a fifth of wild Turkey in warmups??

David Irving was basically kicked out the NFL for it and he stated that he smoked weed for pain because he had a fear of taking pain killers.

He was very smart to be fearful of taking pain killers. I lost a friend who became addicted to hydrocodone, then other opiods as a result. He took them for neck problems. He eventually OD'd when he took too high a dose in rehab.

Green grass doesn't kill.

Did everyone see the story of the kid who shot and killed the USPS deliveryman for refusing to deliver a 1 pound package of marijuana. A freaking pound.

Are they really shipping it around by the pound? Do you know how big a package that would be?

Plus it made it all the way through the system until the delivery man stopped it.

I've always figured with the pure volume of mail out there, a lot of weed is being moved around. Fedex was moving so much at one point that they had to start screening just to keep the Feds off their backs. But a pound!!!!
