All Ivy Renfroe did was win 4 games in three days....and in her loss she pitched a 2-hitter. She gave up zero earned runs today after basically pitching five games this weekend. Remarkable endurance. My Tennessee hero of the week.

I got into this a few years ago when they were making deep runs behind Monica Abbott every year. I think a Softball National Champions t-shirt would be unique and cool.

That's when I started following closely. I would rather watch softball than college baseball at this point.

I think we have another star pitcher coming in who isn't a Renfroe, unless I just gave the same person two identities.

Erin Gabriel from Ohio is the pitcher that you're thinking of. According to a story I saw they have 3 players coming in next year who are listed a pitchers, but I would think that the other 2 would play a diiferent postition next year.

Unless we're running out of roster space, you can never have too much good pitching. One of these young ladies is bound to develop into the next star pitcher at UT.

I agree for three reasons - we're winning, the games are quicker, and the athletes are generally kind to my eyes.

Exactly. I just prefer it as a whole. Probably cause we have sucked at baseball for so long. Don't see it changing anytime soon either.

Is the other Renfroe a pitcher as well? Hope she isn't. Next year we will have 3 girls that could legitimately start for pretty much anyone.

The youngest Renfroe pitched out of necessity in high school, but she's coming here as a position player.

All of the Renfroes' were all-around players in H.S. They were all good hitters as well as in the field. Ivy, for instance, had 187 RBIs in H.S. and averaged right at .400 hitting. Ellen averaged around .350 and had 44 RBIs her senior year. Anna, coming to Tennessee next year, has similar batting stats and plays 3B (and pitcher).

College baseball is much like basketball - good players leave early, if they get drafted by a MLB team and offered a decent contract - main reason I dont follow it very much

That was a fun way to spend the weekend. I got so upset when we lost game 1, but that just made it that more exiting.

YOU GO GIRLS!!!

If Ellen and Ivy hit that well, they should consider letting them try to hit in college, rather than using a "designated player," or have the DP hit for someone else.
