The logo was designed for basketball and only for basketball. That Nike is now paying teams and athletes to wear it rather than the swoosh doesn't mean that the image is something other than a guy playing basketball. I have no issue with those folks getting paid. I simply think Nike is ham-handed in trying to make the jump man logo universal when the swoosh already is.

You could replace the Stanley Cup with the Lombardi Trophy, and it's still going to be a silver football.

And the original Nike swoosh was specifically designed for running shoes, now it’s literally everywhere.

Jordan brand is to Nike what Lexus is to Toyota, Infiniti to Nissan, etc. Its their premium brand.

You don’t have to like it.

But you’re tripling down on a poor argument. Jordan brand is not specifically geared for basketball like you stated.

Take your L like a man so we can all move on.

And the act of running is common in many, if not most, sports. The act of dunking a basketball is mostly, if not entirely, confined to the sport of basketball.

Jordan brand is to Nike what Lexus is to Toyota, Infiniti to Nissan, etc. Its their premium brand.

And this would be like Honda creating a luxury car brand and using a lawnmower as the logo.

You don’t have to like it.

Oh good, I was worried that I might have to like it.

But you’re tripling down on a poor argument. Jordan brand is not specifically geared for basketball like you stated.

I said that the logo was geared to basketball. Which it inarguably is. The brand could expand to any and all product offerings and the logo is still about basketball.

You should be careful when accusing someone of "tripling down on a poor argument" and then immediately misrepresenting that argument.

Take your L like a man so we can all move on.

Your declaration of victory is as convincing as your declaration that the jump man logo isn't about basketball.

The logo is Jordan. It’s his brand. To compare Nike starting as a track shoe and “all sports incorporating running” is one of BW’s most ridiculous stretches ever.

Quadrupling down on that L. 😂

You’ve been shown multiple examples of the brand being worn in multiple sports not named basketball.

The brand is not “specifically geared” towards basketball.

Those were your words, you were proven to be wrong rather quickly.

The swoosh is representative of a wing. Nike is named for the winged goddess of victory. It does not represent the sport of track and field or any specific track athlete. The jump man logo is Michael Jordan playing basketball.

Pretending there is no difference between the two is specious reasoning.

There’s five Jordan brand schools for football, one in each P5 conference.

SEC - UF
ACC - UNC
Big 10 - Michigan
Big 12 - Oklahoma
PAC 12 - Oregon
UNC makes sense since that’s where Jordan went to school and Oregon makes sense because of Phil Knight the owner of Nike. Oklahoma having the best record in the Big 12 makes sense too. But why Michigan and Florida? Bet you Bama and Ohio State turned them down.

Nope. The only time the word "brand" appeared in my posts was when I was quoting you or referring to your posts. I pointed that out in my previous post and you are still misquoting me.

You're not actually arguing against my opinion. You're arguing against the position you want me to have so that you can "win."

Stop tweaking your argument. Nike made track shoes. That’s what Nike was. Then they expanded. The Jordan logo IS JORDAN. You know from basketball and are unwilling to waiver that Micheal Jordan can branch out.

I think it has to do with when each school's apparel agreement came up. I don't know why Ohio State or Bama would have refused the extra money. The only thing Bama cares about is that Nike not try to change the uniform like they did with the Pro Combat fad.

You know that Michael Jordan doesn't design this stuff, right? He is simply paid for the use of his name and likeness.

I tend to agree, that does make sense.

You know it’s HIS brand right? That’s what we’re discussing. Good grief, you should take trolling lessons from your pal D4H

No, it's Nike's brand. It's 100% owned by Nike.

This is not trolling. I'm not seeking a reaction, LW's and your passions for the topic notwithstanding.

You lost when you stated Jordan gear is specifically geared for basketball.

It’s not.

Own it.

The logo is Jordons trademark used now for apparel for all sports that are choosing this brand.. But in the end all I see is a guy dunking a basketball 🏀 when I see the logo.. ⛹️‍♂️

You are not alone in what the logo represents to you personally.

But the brand that logo represents has branched out into multiple sports.

It’s not a basketball-only logo or brand anymore.

You can switch from claiming I said "brand" to claiming I said "gear" and it won't change the fact that I said "logo." The great thing about a forum like this is that it's quite easy to go back and read the conversation. You are wanting to prove your case about the brand by posting all kinds of pictures from all kinds of sports, and every one of those pictures proves my point because they feature a logo of a guy playing basketball.

Actually, it proves my point.

A logo featuring the greatest basketball player of all time is powerful enough to fuel a brand past its originally intended sport and target audience.

The Jumpman logo...Jordan brand...Jordan gear...are no longer “specifically geared” for basketball as you stated. It hasn’t been for nearly 20 years.

A day later and you’re still wrong.

How can I add more fuel to this discussion? Hmmm... Ok I got it.

Michael Jordan is a narcissistic prick from UNC who’s logo I don’t want on our football uniforms because he was a basketball player . There, that’s my reasoning . I will not be convinced otherwise. Doesn’t change the fact that some schools have chosen to be under the Jordan/Jumpman umbrella. There is nothing any different or special with the football uniforms with the Jordan Logo than there is with having a swoosh. It’s up to personal preference and your feelings about MJ .

Fine. For the sake of ending this pissing contest that I was never interested in entering, I will revise my first comment on the subject.

Here you go:

I'd rather have kids who are more focused on playing football than sporting a logo in the likeness of a basketball player.
