Nebraska @ Illinois. It's here!

Y'all joke on this board about "F'ahr (insert name here)".

Nebraska fans have seen enough.

Some of them want to ask if they can somehow forfeit their games against Oklahoma and Ohio State.
They have games against MSU, UM, Minny, and Northwestern in late September-mid-October that will decide their season. They could legitimately be looking at 3-9/4-8.

Heard a few already wanting Stoops from Kentucky but why would he take that job? He wouldn't imo.

Matt Campbell is the name everyone is throwing out there.

The salt in the wound is Illinois is playing with a back-up QB and Bielema is in his first year there.

First of all JG running out of the tunnel like that would never happen. Minute the fan base saw him coming out of the tunnel, half the fans in the stadium would be jumping on the field to stop him. The guy that handles Smokey might even turn the leash loose to let the old boy join the chase

Even if JG survived all that, he would throw a pick 6 to a security guard while warming up
This made me feel better.

Matt Campbell is completely unrealistic for Nebraska though.

I actually feel bad for Nebraska. No idea why Frost stuck with Martinez. Their fan base is going to suffer this year like we did last year.

Just think, You guys really wanted Frost...Dodged a bullet I would say.

Is he though? With the future of the B12 in doubt, it could be something that he could jump at.

Yes because even if the Big 12 falls apart, and Iowa State is left out of the power conferences, history shows there's usually several big time jobs open each off season. And Matt Campbell will be a top choice for many of them.

Well it depends on what your definition of big time job is. The only big time B10 job that could open up in the near future because of a coaches poor performance is Michigan. Besides that, it would take Ryan Day, James Franklin, or Brian Kelly leaving for the NFL for any of the other big time B10/Midwest jobs to open up.

To be fair, I'm not really sure.

I don't know if it's Frost or if it's Nebraska.

Had he come to Florida, he had some knowledge of the recruiting in the state because of his time at UCF and it wasn't the issue Nebraska is. I'm fine with Mullen, don't misunderstand, but I'm not so sure that Frost would have been a failure at Florida or at least not at the level he is currently failing.

Some guys can't coach. Some guys can coach, but they are a fit in certain places.

Bret Bielema won big at Wisconsin and did squat at Arkansas. We'll see how he does at Illinois.

Ed Orgeron is not a national title winning head coach anywhere but LSU.

Sometimes the grass isn't greener. He had it better at UCF

The reality is that UT hired the coach that best fit Nebraska’s roster and Nebraska hired the coach that best fit UTs roster. But the higher ups at both schools wanted a change of system but had no clue to the reality they were facing by trying to completely flip the rosters.

I honestly think Frost would’ve been far more successful here than had he gone to Nebraska, but I also understand why he made the choice he did. In modern football no one cares about way back history and trying to convince a kid to go play at Nebraska is gonna be a hard sell when it’s literally in the middle of nowhere, far from any coast and very conservative in its laws.

Campbell apparently has no desire to leave Iowa St

He’s turned down NFL offers.
