Dang, cancer sucks, but that's way too young. We'll be praying

My 4 year old grandson, Vincent, has strep - usually it will go away, but a couple local kids died from in March so makes me worried -- praying that it was caught in time
A 42yo man I work with had strep so bad, he had to be trached. Doctors say his was a 1in 100k case. In the hospital for over a month and sometime after he was released, he had a light stroke.

Still can't talk. Has about 80% of his strength back and came back to work about a month ago.

I have a younger cousin who got some kind of cold when he was a baby. Idk if strep was involved, but something to do with his throat. Somehow, it ended up going to his heart, and almost killed him. He had to have a heart transplant about 10-12 years ago. It was one of those rarely happens kinda things.

me both my brothers and sister all had tonsils out when we were under 5 years old - my daughter never had hers out and she got strep numerous times and the Dr refused to take out her tonsils despite so many streps

I still have mine, idk why, nobody ever said anything about it. I still have my appendix also, I reckon it's still good.

Update from my oldest friend

Haley's PET scan revealed spots in a couple additional areas. Due to this being such an unusual case due to her youth and absence of risk factors the team of doctors have decided to do blood testing to determine if cancer producing genetic mutations are present. The presence or absence of these mutations will dictate treatment decisions and may take up to 2 weeks to get back. If blood work is conclusive then a very targeted plan of treatment will be implemented. A liver biopsy will be necessary if the blood work is inconclusive to be followed by a treatment course of chemo, radiation and possibly surgery. We are heartbroken, but are trusting in God's care, provision and goodness. Thank you for praying and please continue praying.

Oh Lord, how painful for everyone!! Prayers that the medical team can get a handle on this, and that Haley and her family are surrounded with love.
