Without DC, we wouldnt have won the NC in 98'. Gerry DiNardo..are you kidding me with that? Im gonna make it a point to get on here from now on just to argue with you...this is great. HatVol, the man...the legend.

Why does my computer screen fill up with smoke immediately right before hatvol logs in and the theme from the 2001 space odyssy starts playing?

Not really. 9-3 with losses to Florida, LSU, and Georgia/South Carolina/Arkansas wouldn't be a bad season. I would back off the current head coach if we accomplished that.

One season? Do you remember 2000? 2002? 5-6 is not average. For a program with UT's tradition and resources, a losing record is nothing short of pathetic.

All of these "do gooders" posting on this site need to get a grip. TN is not going to win a National or even SEC title year in and year out. The program isn't going to be in the BCS every year. That's just how it is. The SEC East is probably the most competitive divison for any college sport in the country. Yes, the 5-6 season last year was a total failure, and TN didn't do a good job of making their own breaks, but you have to admit, we had the most horrible luck last year. TN will be back. The defense will be there, if recent history is any indication. I believe DC will enhance Ainge's play tremendously. Ainge does have ability. Last year, he lost his confidence early on, and it affected his play on the field for the rest of the season. This year, he is the guy. TN will bring himi along and try to boost his confidence early. I believe TN will go to the "pound the rock" philosophy early in the season. That's classic TN football. Play good defense and make the play's you need to on offense to stay in the game.

i see this years team being much improved. David C. is experienced as they come he will have an
answer for defences when they stack the line to stop the run this year and belive me we will see
some 7,8,9 man fronts early. after they get burned with the big play a few time's they will be droping
back in coverage. thats going to depend on smith, meachum, swain. i see us having to have more than
one running back step up this year to many heavyweights on schedule. 1000 yard rusher is possible
though. our defence will be a little vanilla aganist the run this year in between the 20's it will be much
tougher going from there. by midseason the line and backers will start gel.dont get me wrong chavis
will put an sec calliber defence on the field. its just coaches like richt, myer, miles and that guy down
in the toilet land. will try to exploit our inexperience in the front seven. as for the secondary being the
strength of the defence i dont think so although there is tallent our secondary hasn't been the strength
of anything for as long as i can remember. would be nice to see them have an outstanding year though.

kicking game? if it dosnt improve it will cost us dearly!! can you see us up 2 touchdowns on georgia
only to see it wasted away by two kick returns. o lord please not this year:)

it boils down to playing good sound fundamental football no turnovers false starts busted plays.

i think we will be in every game this year with a chance to blow a heavyweight or two compleatly
out.

I find it hard to believe that a lot of people posting on this site are true Tennessee fans. There is so much negative posting it makes me sick. Yes, last year was a terrible year, but everyone should admit that TN could have easily finished the regular season at 9-2. TN was in the Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Vanderbilt games. What if Tn had found a way to win those games? Would everyone still be saying how much the program has fallen? There is a very thin line between winning and losing and it just so happened that last year, we didn't get any breaks, except for the LSU game. In my opinion, last year's final record was a total fluke. TN is still a great program with great facilities and a coach that is one of the winningest active coaches in America. In today's college landscape, its difficult to compete for National Championships every year. Every team has it's ups and downs. I think that last year was good for TN, because I believe the team will be hungry this year. Things are not as bad though, as a lot of people on this board seem to think. Based on our recruiting from 2002 - 2005, I don't think the cupboard is bare, so to speak, in terms of talent. TN will be fine and I believe the Vols will have a great season.

Gee, no mention of the fact that if UAB and Memphis make a couple of plays UT goes 3-8.

Funny how that happens. As much as I think the talk of firing the coach is a little premature, I think now is the appropriate time to insert the Bill Parcells quote . . .

You are what your record says you are.

It is hard to argue against.........................................

Unless...........What type of environment were you in?

What was your upbringing?

Do you have emotional problems?

It is the fault of the village why you have a losing record........

It is the general managers fault...........

My coordinators failed me....
