I blame the NBA for the fact that Noel had to do this stupid college song and dance at all. I blame the NCAA for the fact that Noel hasn't been earning money doing commercials in Kentucky this fall, hasn't been earning a stipend, etc.

I got such a nice scholarship package from UTK as an undergrad that I actually got PAID to go to school for awhile. Noel has been a hell of a lot more useful to his school than I was to mine.

Still should go pro. Rehabbing in the NBA while getting paid is way better than being in rehab at a college you planned on leaving anyways.

a stipend is one thing, but you know why the ncaa can't allow the other stuff.

good lord, phil knight could put the entire oregon football team in a nike commercial and pay them whatever he wanted

also, the nba thing is collectively bargained. blame the players too

Even with the injury, Chad Ford is still projecting him a top 5 pick. He's young and will rehab it, and will go on to make far more money than all of us put together.

So? He's only got a limited number of slots on the roster. Other teams have wealthy boosters too. Oregon already has a massive financial advantage and spends lavishly on their players anyway. Everyone else is already allowed to make money off these kids' likenesses but the kids themselves. Let's get it all out in the open.

how about they just go and form a minor league for basketball and football and see how marketable the players are then?

the issue of likenesses, i agree, for things like video games.

although, i played video games for years where the players had the wrong number at positions and fake names were used. i don't know if sales suffered as a result.

He will still be top 3 pick, if not number 1.

UK's season is in serious trouble. Tough to make any kind if big run without him.

You have no idea where injuries like this go. Hows Greg Odon's career doing? Its only a measly microfracture, right? How'd Sam Bowie's career turn out? Hows Derrick Rose doing? Think he'll ever be as quick as he was?

I'm not saying we should bow our heads, but to laugh at a KIDS tragedy is ridiculous.
