Our next coach should be...

Yet was never considered for any open job since he was fired!

Never considered or he never accepted. His own words

"Somebody that's committed to winning championships and being the best that they can be, with a chance to compete in a conference that's nationally recognized. I'm not going to go walk into a door somewhere that you have no chance to be successful."

Can you link something that backs up your claim that no one is interested.

And for the record I'm for the best coach we can get, but we need to choose wisely.

My first choice would be Peterson. Patterson would be excellent as well. Pat Fitzgerald has defensive background and anyone that can win at NW is a pretty damn good coach too. I DO NOT WANT KIRBY SMART. NO NO NO.

I have to admit I'm surprised at the low turn out for Jimbo Fisher... beast recruiter, semi-proven coach, and with FSU having money trouble I thought it was a legit option. What am I missing?

Look I don't want to get into an argument but did you see where his name was thrown around for open jobs the way we are doing with others? I think it would have got back to some of these message boards or the knoxville media outlets had Fulmer been seriously considered for any job over the last couple of years. I know there were a few message board rumors about the Memphis job or its AD job but that's all I remember.

I honestly don't even care if we get a big name coach.

Just give me a coach with PROVEN success record - even if was success in the lower leagues. None of this 17-20 garbage.

Cuonzo Martin, no matter how much you may or may not like him, absolutely cleaned house at the Missouri Valley Conference. That's the bottom-line requirement that we should have for EVERY Tennessee coach - especially football.

If were going to be realistic about picking a new coach please show some real numbers and stats to prove there a winner no more speculation. here's the numbers to go with my pick.

152–52 record
6 Conference division titles
2 Conference titles
1 National Championship
Known to be an ace recruiter
10+ years in the SEC

No more speculation on if they can do it or not lets see some real numbers.

Stats...ok, I'll play

21-7 Score
383-64 yardage lead

Lets hire this guy?

Accually Arkansas and Kentucky both have rumors of Fulmer coming in to coach going on this year. Just google Phillip Fulmer coaching rumors.

I am making one simple declaration: If it's Bobby Petrino, I'm done! Any man who would leave a team in the middle of the season and notify his players by leaving a note in their lockers (not even handwritten) Is a straight up PUNK who deserves not an ounce of respect or support!

How in the hell is Fulmer's name on this list. How stupid can it get around here?

Why is this concept too hard to grasp for some of you? This thread has EPIC FAIL written all over it.

No arguing, but if your going off rumors just google Fulmer coaching rumors. You will find Arkansas, Kansas, Louisville and most recently Kentucky all on the first page. Why he didn't end up with the jobs is only speculation.

Let's look at stats and facts. Is there a better coach out there that we can get?

Looking at the list I don't see one. Remember this is the SEC just cause you can win some where else don't mean squat in the SEC.

I say Dan Mullen. He won big as offensive coordinator at Florida. He took a below average and always underachieving Mississippi State team and has them playing competitive SEC football. I think he could do great with the talent we have on our team. We already have a good core of solid players on offense and he could probably maximize that quickly while hopefully hiring a solid, proven D coordinator to get that side of the ball back in order.

He's proven as a coordinator and head coach in the SEC. He just needs access to a bigger, better program to take the next step to compete with the top schools in the league. If I were handling the coaching search, which you know I am, he'd be my first call.

Peterman is supposed to be somewhat mobile and would probably fit right into his style of QB play calling until he could recruit someone to really fit his system. I think he would make a quick transition right into the job.

If not Jon Gruden, there is only one other name I would be happy with...Gary Patterson. And for those of you wondering about background, his is defense
