Out of the guys listed Pat Fitzgerald intrigues me the most. He's the right age IMO. He has a solid career started with his record at a middle of road Big10 school.

Kirby Smart - I've really never been a fan of Defensive coaches becoming Head Coaches. One thing to consider here he would probably keep Sunseri as his DC.

I am not saying smart is the best choice. He would be about #6 or 7 on my list. As of now I say I think we get him because UT has always went on the cheap when it comes to hiring a HC. Until they hire someone for top SEC money, wishing is all you can do.

It's one thing to say you can make the adjustments, another to do it. But he has backed it up year in and year out.

On the down side the are 6-4 thus far in the first season in the Big 12 and will be underdogs against Texas and Oklahoma.

And no team he faced runs the ball like the SEC does. Big difference between the SEC and the Big 12.

Fitzgerald is growing on me. I watched some of his mic'd up videos. The guy is INTENSE!! He runs a mean D with little talent and coaches kids up.

Does anyone that says Tressel not follow CFB. The man has a "show cause" against him. Dave Hart would be in the unemployment line if he hired him.

Petrino is a snake in the grass. Good coach, but again too much baggage.

I pray to god Kirby Smart is not even considered, we just got sent to the bottom of the SEC by one unproven Saban disciple, the last thing we need is another coming in to take his place.

Bleacher Report story if we hired Petrino, same as what we went through with Kiffin.

Clay Travis of Outkick the Coverage listed Petrino as the second-best candidate to replace Dooley, only behind Jon Gruden. With all due respect, that’d be the equivalent of a two-year-old burning his hand on the stove only to touch it again the next day.

What about Al Golden at Miami or Peterson at Boise State?

Golden has done nothing at Miami and While his record was impressive at Temple it was still in the MAC!

Peterson has been up for every major conference job to open the past 6 or 8 years and has always stayed at Boise. So for some reason I don't see him ever leaving Idaho.

If were going to be realistic about picking a new coach please show some real numbers and stats to prove there a winner no more speculation. here's the numbers to go with my pick.

152–52 record
6 Conference division titles
2 Conference titles
1 National Championship
Known to be an ace recruiter
10+ years in the SEC

No more speculation on if they can do it or not lets see some real numbers.

If we end up with Petrino or Smart, I'm walking away from UT football. Reasons:
Smart - Not a proven HC and I'm tired of the Saban and Bama connections
Petrino - I guess I still value morals and ethics. And even if he ended up here and won, history tells us he'd leave behind a disaster whenever he left.
