New Commit- TE A.J. Branisel

i hope not, all we are getting is 3 star players. i'm beginning to think we should have offered franklin the job. vandy is now the best team in tennessee.

Way too early to use such definitive terms. This TE has good size and speed. It looks like a good pick-up. As we wrap-up this recruiting period, then we can get all 'down' about all the three stars. Thus far, looks like CBJ is doing a good job in a short period of time.

You know it amazes me how some armchair/laptop coaches "think" they can evaluate a prospect better than the coaches.

It's a percentage game. People are playing the percentages and it's a safer and better bet.

I mean damn, how has this been working for you lately?

i disgree, we look like diamond in the rough U. recruits like these just makes me think he isn't gonna get it done. this is the way it is you get what you pay for.

It's not the *'s. It's poaching recruits from vandy and cincinnati.

By and large, this wont cut it. They need to win recruiting battles for recruits that are being offered by the bigger fish in the sea

This is exactly right, and it is why I've said Feb 2013 will likely define CBJ's tenure. He's got to show this year he can recruit BIG. Doesn't have to be Top Ten, but he's got to show that he's trending that way and better.

We have to start flipping Florida, Bama, and Georgia recruits if we want to be back in the hunt and in the mix.

He's still got time, but I'm very dubious about being Cincinnati South.

I disagree.

Most of the guys that sign at a given school have been recruited by that school for as long as two years. There's no way this year's class can say anything about Jones. 2014 is really the first fair measure.

Beating duke and Mississippi state in a bowl is awesome
Considering Mississippi State stomped our asses. Duke could beat us with our D, and we have not even been to a damn bowl in 2 years. So yea, beating Mississippi State or Duke in a bowl would be awesome...to start with. If Tennessee had beaten Florida, I bet we would not be seeing as much of you on this board. Florida fan hanging out in a Tennessee board is just strange (A******** W****?) Tennessee Football est.1891 Florida Football est.1993 :hi:

After Jones proves he can win in the SEC, we will have a better chance of getting 4* and 5* recruits. This kids speed is impresive for a TE and may prove to be a great player with proper coaching. Winning is the key to recruiting the better players in the SEC, something the Vols haven't done much of in the last few years, so welcome to UT and the SEC.

Well how have those so called 4* star players been working out for UT? 5-7 the past 2 years. Yeah they're working wonders.

How many recruiting battles has Tennessee won against georgia, florida, alabama, lsu, florida state, etc, etc, recently?

Regardless of rating, Tennessee has, for the most part, gobbled up the scraps left over after everyone else has had their fill

I certainly don't think I can evaluate anything. I base my opinion on how many other schools offered the prospect and who those schools were. If I see some SEC schools and other "Big Boy" conference schools then I am happy. If I see Big East and other small conference schools, then I am concerned.

Well five stars haven't been working out for us either. Bryce Brown, Janzen Jackson, Da'Rick Rogers, etc.

there is only 1 five star and 8 four star tight ends.. he's ranked 29 nationally for tight ends according to rivals....not many opportunities to get the four or five stars at that position.

Quit bringing facts like this to the table... the "star gazers" will hate you! :loco:

I've never addressed this, but you don't find it weird that most of the 5 star guys Tennessee has signed in the last few years have off the field issues.

Weird, as in, it's not an accident

How many FOOTBALL battles have we won against those teams recently? That has more to do with Tennessee recruiting than coaches, facilities and tradition. What 18 year old future NFL player wants to go to a school that looses to Kentucky, and gets beatdown by Vanderbilt? Butch Jones is going to have to overachieve for a couple of years, then our recruiting will be back to what we are used too. There is no magic wand we can wave and undue the past 6 years. Tennessee will be back, now let these coaches do what we pay them to do and quit acting like we know more about player evaluation for this system than the coaches. :peace2:

Immediate playing time, exposure and facilities should land Tennessee their share.
