New Commit- TE A.J. Branisel

Three stars have potential. I don't want a roster full of three stars but they are never a bad pickup, especially at a position of need. Plus four and five star TE's are rare. Way to go CBJ.

We are about 14 th in the SEC. How is that going to work for us?

Think we're talking about two different things. I'm talking about the last few years.

This year, right now, with 15 commits we are not where we need to be. Coach Jones has 5 to 10 more to add to this class.

You're right...we better not be 14th in the sec after nsd.

imo 5th to 7th would be exceptable.

also im not saying 3 star recruits are all bad, but we are stealing guys that are from vandy and cincy. there offer lists are far from great. like i said diamonds in the rough maybe, but you can't take 15 of these types of players. this is not the big east.

OK Mr. Genius. What do you propose we do? 4 and 5 star guys ARE being pursued. With the limited time the staff has to recruit this year and considering our terrible record, do you believe we should just drop all 3 stars and just go after the 4 and 5's? What if the 4 and 5's go elsewhere?

That's right, you don't have a solution. You just want to whine and complain. Par for the course for you.:cray:

A few current 3* SEC players...Vinnie Sunseri @ Alabama, Rivera,Fulton, and Z Rogers @ Tennessee...former 3* players Sam Bradford and Matt Ryan are playing in NFL... Remember, a 3 * - 5.6, 4* - 5.7, and 5* - 6.1 . A difference between a 3* and 4* is very little. No one is saying this kid is the next Rivera, Johnny Football, or next greatest player at Tennessee, but he looks like a good player. Furthermore, because we picked up a few 3* players doesn't mean CBJ is a mediocre recruiter. Give him some time and chill the @#$% out about this class.

If we could get to 5-7 in SEC this year that would be a really great job by the staff with as little time as they have to make it work.

Agree.

I'll also add it could come down to #'s. We really didn't have a senior class this year. A couple of jr's leaving...normal attrition...ect..

I seen most expect us to take close to 25 but we'll have to have some more move on to get there.

Every player that signs with UT on signing day, despite who initially recruited them, is committing to play for our current staff. This staff's very first recruiting job was rerecruiting UT's current commits.

Blind prognostication and knee-jerk judgments are fun, I guess?

Perhaps, with less than a month on the job, with a roster to fill, and knowing the type of talent that can be successful in his system, CBJ is recruiting the athletes he feels have a good chance of being a success in his system?

Maybe?

Or, he's just going through a list of three stars and making blind telemarketing calls...

we only need 3 more i think we will get there.

So... By this logic we should stop recruiting all 5 star players and stick to three stars. Got it.

Check out Stanford's recruiting classes....they can compete with anyone in the country....intelligent above average athletes with superb coaching. Virginia Tech also.....even Boise State the last few years is another team along that lines.

Superior coaching is huge to develop players and get the most out of one...if the kid is genetically gifted all the better but the player development/coaching up side is huge for teams like that and proven so far that it works.

the solution would have been to hire a big name coach, or a coach that was going to overpay and bring in great recruiters. we did neither and now we are pretty much screwed. we have a cincy staff with cincy recruits, and alot of losing seasons ahead of us. hell sonny dykes is doing a better job at CAL.
