According to reports in Tampa Gruden is assembling a coaching staff and will take over as the new HC of the Eagles after the season. Gruden is also mentioned for HC job at Cleveland and San Diego. No mention of coaching any college teams.

It is definitely time for a new coach! And for all those people who say we will be starting over again I disagree!! We are going backwards week after week!! Stop blaming kiffint that was 3 years ago!! No big time player wants to come here!! I think Dooley is a great guy but let's face it he is in over his head!!!

it might come down to Fulmer - there are no other sucessful coaches with UT ties -- the AD will compare it to Kansas St hiring Snyder back and say wow look what happened at KSU -

Fulmer's time is done. I would rather have Cutcliff. If you don't think so then look at what happened to Fulmer when Cut left him and what happens when he came back.

Cut could be HC & QBs
Fulmer could be OL coach and recruiting coordinator.
Chavis back as DC.
Chaney as OC
Tee in as WR
Graham at RB
Pittman at Special Teams.
Dale Jones at LB's
Kevin Steele at DB's
Darin Hinshaw at TE's

Can't go backwards. I think Doofus has made us forget how bad the last 7 years it was with Fulmer.

Hopefully we can move forward with a big hitter with UT ties or not

I think Dan Mullen would be a great choice. He has tons of SEC experience and is a proven winner as a Coordinator at a top school and as a Head Coach. Surely TN is a better job with more potential than Miss State.

I think we were crazy for letting Fulmer go. He could have done a whole lot better. Besides he was a good recruiter. Phil just couldn't beat the top 3: UGA, Bama and Florida. Sooner or later we'd get there, but the Vols don't have the talent as the other teams. Maybe the Gators are lucky this season. At least Phil could have gotten 6 wins or maybe even 7 out of this team. I know most people are expecting 8 or more wins preferably 9. When can the Vols be a top 3 in the SEC East? South Carolina has gotten considerably better.

I keep hearing Perino's name but if we are going to hire a coach with questionable ethics why not let it be Jim Tressel. He has at least won championships and won at a very high rate!

Why would he do that? Tennessee is less relevant that Mississippi State.

Listening to the EA show this am, says info he has is Gruden not coming and UT not even looking Petrino's direction (more to his deal than just the motorcycle ride). So...

Kirby Smart, Charlie Strong, Gary Patterson, Dan Mullen??? I think Mullen and Patterson turn us down. Could be a very disappointing process and underwhelming hire.

We have to get this hire right. I had my first day off (in afghanistan btw) on sat and got to enjoy some cbssports.com game cast action. Which btw almost gives people heart attacks while they sit patiently for stick figures to catch passes, run the rock, and tackle. Anyways, i've been so emotionally envolved with this program since i was about 7 years old ('93) and I can't handle another bad move by the admin. Sal was probally the worst hire in tennessees history. We need a proven winner who can actually make 2nd half adjustments. I can't count how many times ive watched dooleys teams come out and not make a single adjustment and get the breaks beat off them by mediocre talent. The only thing thats gone good for me during this deployment is the fact that im part of the arkansas national guard and get to listen to my soldiers and leaders ***** more than me. Everytime i read a dumb@$$ post on VN i just wait a few minutes/hours for one of them to open their mouths and i realize how bad their fan base is.

Um, I think we've already went backwards. Whether you agree with Cut or Phil, it is definately a step forward.

After the missing going bowling 3 of the last 4 years.

Anybody else find it odd that coach fulmer, who was a proven game winning head coach in the sec was let go mid season butthe word on dooley is that the decision wont be made until after the season?!?! Talk about disrespect...
