New forum: Coaching Rumors and Speculation

Charlie Strong=Talk to me after 4 or 5 impressive seasons.
Tommy Tubberville= I'll take him.
Booby Petrino=NO. Not interested in re-negotiating his contract EVERY YEAR.
Butch Jones= Again, talk to me after 4 or 5 straight impressive seasons.
Gary Patterson= Homerun hire.
Petersen= Homerun hire.
John Gruden= Homerun hire.:peace2:

I do agree that the resume for Strong and Jones is thin as far as wins. Both seem like they are good coaches and get the most out of their teams. Tony Dungy speaks very highly of Strong, which on top of Strong's background with SEC defenses, makes him a very interesting coach that is on the way up. I think he could turn this D around in a hurry.

Jones just seems like a strong football mind who gets a lot of his players (something that Dooley seems to be unable to do). If you brought in Jones I think you would have to bring in at least 1 big name coordinator (Kliff Kingsbury?) to really get the ship righted.

Petrino has a laundry list of faults, but somehow the guy gets results everywhere he goes (except the NFL). Give him the top recruiting budget in the nation and he will get some studs.

Strong, I agree his resume is just not worth the money it would take to get him to leave UL.

Tuberville I think would be a great hire. SEC proven and has done well at Tech. Would need a good DC.

IMO Jones already has enough of a resume to rate him a good option. He has had 4 seasons of 8 or more wins out of 5. This year he is 7-2 so it will be 5 out of 6 in a couple weeks.

I would be fine with Petrino as I think winning is the most important thing UT football needs right now. He would not have alot to bargain with if contract talks were started. I think 2.5 million or less a year for 5 years would have him here and happy to be given the chance. Large buyout clause if he tried to leave early and we would be alot better off than we are today.

Gruden, Patterson, or Petersen are no brainer hires. I would love to have any of the 3 coaching this team. Unlike alot of peeople on here, I would make both Patterson and Petersen say no to 4.25 million before I offered Gruden 5.5 million.

Please no Bobby P. The proud home of General Neyland's legacy deserves better.

I hear Dave Clawson was spotted on campus today:crazy:!

Rumor on Booger-eater radio here in Little Rock is that Gruden is signed and ready to be announced as the next Hog coach.....pig fans are gitty with anticipation (maybe moonshine as well). Gruden is 'about to be signed' by every program in the country. He will NEVER coach in college.

I don't know if true, but I heard Gruden had an out in his contract with ESPN for only Tn and ND.

Ainge hasn't been in radio bus long enough to have strong credible sources. Heck even Basilio even said Gruden was still in play yesterday. And why was grudens agent here and family at Webb.

Anybody else find it odd that coach fulmer, who was a proven game winning head coach in the sec was let go mid season butthe word on dooley is that the decision wont be made until after the season?!?! Talk about disrespect...

Two different AD's. Hamilton, was(is) a spineless D'bag. Hart, so far, is show some respect and wait and see.

I'd say there's zero chance that Gruden will coach at Tennessee and it's doubtful that any college will pay more than he earns right now since he's not a college coach.

VFL...GBO!!!

DB coach as in Raheem Morris?

Update on booger-eater radio today (11-15-12)....Gruden will bring R. Morris as D coordinator to UofA; the pig fans are whipped into a booger-eater frenzy! I don't see the connection. Why would he go to hog ville and be in the same division as Nick Satan and LSU? What do I know?

In case you forget, Ainge played football at UT..He has more than a few sources inside the athletic department.

Imo, either they are telling local media to downplay (you wash my back I wash yours) or they are telling them he is not coming so when they do make public it is a big splash and it probably also helps Gruden to keep quiet while he is still with ESPN.

EA has plenty of sources by being a past QB...not solely as part of the media. I suggest everyone give him a listen! He knows his stuff!! #smokescreen
