New poll: its Newt's turn ....

Being reported that Gingrich just gave an interview to Blitzer and said he considers Romney to be VP material !!

His arrogance is unmatched.

Political trash talk is awesome.

Newt will curcify Obama in the debates anyway. The Dems need them some Romney. Even though he'd probably make the teleprompter in cheif look bad too.

A free people do not need leaders.

Our representatives (note, not leaders!) are chosen by us to do what we want them to do, not to lead us somewhere.

At least that is how it is supposed to work.

People need to stop being sheep.

So you don't vote based on policy? I truly don't see it

No, I do. I just haven't done much research on Huntsman but have liked some things he has said. I've done a lot research on Johnson, though. Huntsman is more in line with "best of the worst" thought process, I guess.

Obama was ready to "rule" on day 1 :)

But sheep get free food, provisions, and are generally taken care of. :eek:hmy:

Funny how religious people call others "sheep."

(Just making a general observation, carry on.)

CNN Poll: Gingrich soars, Cain drops – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs
Wonder what the over/under is going to be for how long Newt can stay up in the top anti- Romney spot? I'll go with 4 weeks, because as soon as Romney sees Newt as a viable threat, the public is going to be reminded of all of his ... excesses.

I'll take that bet. You seem to be implying that Newt's rise in popularity has been primarily as a result of others falling in the polls. While I'm not denying that is a factor, I think most would agree that Newt has also won or performed at the top of every single debate. I'll take Newt with his baggage over Obama any day, and if given the opportunity can't wait to see them head to head in a few debates.

Four weeks later and Newt's lead continues to grow...

First Read - Gingrich opens up big leads in South Carolina and Florida

Gingrich ahead “any way you slice it”

In South Carolina, which holds its presidential contest on Jan. 21, Gingrich gets the support of 42 percent of likely primary voters, including those leaning toward a particular candidate. That’s a 35-point jump since October’s NBC-Marist poll of the Palmetto State contest.

Romney gets 23 percent (a five-point drop), and no other Republican candidate registers in double digits. Texas Rep. Ron Paul gets 9 percent, while Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann are tied at 7 percent.

In a field reduced to three candidates in South Carolina, Gingrich gets the support of 48 percent of likely voters, Romney gets 30 percent and Paul gets 12 percent.

In a simple two-way race, Gingrich’s support increases to 57 percent and Romney’s moves to 33 percent.

“It’s a good lead [for Gingrich] any way you slice it,” Miringoff says.
