163 people feel fine about TN. Recruiting.
38 people do not.

Looks pretty overwhelming. Also I would bet half the 38 were troll votes. GBO!

Just for coversation purpose only! What if CDD has tremendous success here at UT over the next 5-7 years. What are the odds of him staying and becoming a lifer at UT or does he leave and go someplace else (i.e UVA or NFL)? He seems to me to be a guy that wants to stay in one place and settle down and have his kids grow up where ever he has settled.

UVA would not be a step up for CDD. The College of choice up here is VT. UVA hasn't put out a great football team for years. The stadium and facilties at UVA do not even compare to UT. I believe CDD is man of his word and according to him, there is no step up from UT!!!

There isn't any question recruiting is going well. We are getting guys we want at positions we need to fill. That is nothing but good news. Momentum is building and signs are good early that this staff can recruit with the best of them.

I couldn't agree more. In the short time that CDD and the staff has had to build relationships with these young kids, this recruiting class is just remarkable ( I am including the above soon to be committments). GBO!!!:dance2: :pepper:

I like Dooley too. To be honest, I also liked Kiffin before he left.

Dooley is a grad of UVA, but don't believe it would be his dream job. I first was worried he would replace Richt because of the Vince Dooley connection, but I don't believe he feels that good about UGA. Remember Vince was an Auburn grad and went on to great things at UGA. Hope his son repeats and even exceeds the success at UT.

dooley didnt go to college at ga and they fired his dad from the AD job, and his mother will support anything precious does.....so dont see him leaving for ga.

In mid April of this year a poll was initiated in this forum as to whether the posters here on VN thought that our recruiting situation was in good shape or not..

Out of approx. 450 voters 84.79% voted that the state of our recruiting was either in fine shape or too early to tell. Alot of you guys voted in this poll I'm sure. Has your opinion changed or not?

It's now 2 1/2 months later. Do you have the same confidence now as then?

229 to 58 in favor of our staff's recruiting...looks pretty consistent with your last poll Bo...

Why don't you come on over to the positive side? It's too early to say for sure anyway so why not just expect some good instead of bad...it feels alot better that way

We are on the cusp of breaking the recruiting door open and the ball will role into a top 10 class.

I'm positive..Didn't vote in either poll. Just think its interesting to see how we all feel. I'm excited about the future and even more so about the positive vibes on VN...GBO..

If this is based on their recruiting efforts, then they get an A. It's not like they're not trying to get top guys.

If it's based on results, a C because they're not getting these top guys. Or anyone else for that matter.

As unbiased observer, I will give Coach Dooley a lot of credit for doing as well as he has so far. I have a lot more respect for him than I did for your previous coach. Kids are going to be patient on UT and wait to see how they look this season and what type of schemes Dooley puts on the field. I realize its tough as a fan to be patient but UT finishing in the top 20 or top 15 in recruiting rankings is not out of the realm of possibility.

He is a lost cause, and has been put on my ignore a long time ago because of his constant negativity.

I voted .... Vols trouble. Staff inexperienced, Its costing Vols BIG!

A negative national light doesn't mean anything in terms of recruiting. Everyone has off-field problems and has little effect in the long-term.

On signing day for the 2010 class, I thought Dooley had earned a solid B for making the most of the situation. I felt he would have had to retrieve a few of those Kiffin decommits for an A. However, the scounging operation for the 2010 class since signing day has been very impressive, not to mention creative ... a AA baseball player and 4* FSU commit four years ago, the scout.com #1 punter who decommited from USC, and a JC interior offensive lineman transfer with three years of eligiblity, and who already knows how to play the center position. I would say that pushes his 2010 grade to an A-.

For 2011, I felt Dooley was setting the table pretty well up until "the incident." It is hard not to believe that made DeBell's decision a little easier. Certainly, given the recruiting scrutiny of Lord Vader "long shot," Wayne Lyons and mom, he is now a no shot. It will take an A effort, in my opinion, just to recover and pull in a class rated somewhere close to the top ten.

Personally I think that the coaches need to start going after some higher tiered recruits because I hate to say it but 20 3-star players won't get us back to being a powerhouse. All in all however, the staff is doing a very good job considering who they are competing with in terms of recruiters in the SEC like Saban, Miles, Chizik, Meyer, etc. The only concern I have is that we don't seem to be pursuing the same kind of talent.

Are we not pursuing them or are we striking out with them so far ? I honestly think that we are going to have to step up and show something on the field before we are going to garner a lot of attention.

go check out Va Tech's past recruiting classes on Rivals

20 3-star players is almost exactly what they get every single year. Sounds like a good start to me.

Yeah you're an idiot then. Check how many NFL coaches we have.

How good has Va. Tech been lately? (yes they have been to BCS games through automatic bids, but they play in a very overrated conference IMO) I bet when they were the national powerhouse that they were when it seemed like they played miami every year for the top spot in the nation they weren't pulling in 20 3-star recruits... That being said, I don't doubt that the players we do have committed are good. Im just saying in order to have a great class we need to sign a 4-star guy soon, so other top recruits don't write us off.
