New SEC Divisions

p.s. Perhaps what the SEC is _reportedly_ trying to do by talking with Ohio State and Clemson is this: lure in the biggest team from the B10 and ACC, which would open the door to them bringing along the more competitive members of their respective former homes. Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and others from B10, along with most of the ACC. This would shortcut the problem my previous post anticipated: a college football division I landscape divided into Mega-SEC and Mega-B10+PAC. If we could bring in the best of the B10, the PAC would have nowhere to turn. And probably wouldn't survive. Certainly not thrive.

That would ensure that the Mega-SEC champion is widely recognized as the national champ, every single year.

So maybe that's what Sankey's trying to do, IF the latest rumors are true.
Stupid beyond belief. Just disenfranchise a huge group of current fans. We need more buyin, which I thought we were close to with a 12 team playoff...and now the SEC/Sankey is trying to nuke the entire sport out of greed.

So freakin sad.

Well, we don't know if that rumor has any truth behind it.

But if it does, there's a reason....a straegy.

LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee , Vanderbilt

Alabama , Auburn , Ole Miss ,Miss State

Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina

Texas, Texas a&m, Oklahoma, Missouri

that’s my four pods, evenly matched

I would predict that they do away with divisions in the event Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC, and instead shift to a four pod system, with four teams to a pod.

The problem is determining who goes where. Peter Burns posited a list on the SEC network that had us with Auburn, Bama and Vandy. I personally HATE that option, and would much rather be paired with Georgia, Florida and South Carolina in such a situation.

Regardless of how it shakes out, I anticipate that UT will get screwed.
Again

Over Dallas, Houston,Austin, and san antionio and all the the damn near 1000 mile stretch of border towns?

No. I said New Mexico. The comment was “all the way to New Mexico” and I took it to include New Mexico. SEC is already in Dallas, Houston, Austin & San Antonio

Was it the Big12 that led on several teams only not to extend invitations to join?

I have lived in Texas all my life almost longhorns out number aggies 3 to here I think Texas would be a smart add for all envolved

North: Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio St, Michigan, Vanderbilt
East: Georgia, Florida, Clemson, South Carolina, Florida St
South: LSU, Miss St, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn
West: Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas
I hope the heck not. It is bad enough having to put up with Alabama fans. Adding Ohio St. and Michigan Yankee fans to that mix will be be ___________________________________ (fill in the blanks)

To me, this makes the most sense.

You’ve got 8 powers and 8 scrubs. Pair up the powers and put the best matching scrubs with them. Unfortunately, we’re a scrub right now. So, this makes sense:

OU and Texas go together.
Georgia and Florida go together.
Bama and Auburn go together.
Texas A&M and LSU go together.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt go together.
Ole Miss and Miss State go together.
Kentucky and South Carolina go together.
Missouri and Arkansas go together.

So logically, you arrive at the graphic:

Division 1: OU, Texas, Mizzou and Arkansas.
Division 2: Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina.
Division 3: Bama, Auburn, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Division 4: TAMU, LSU, Ole Miss and Miss State.

Losing Georgia sucks, but I’m happy to get rid of Florida and gain Auburn. The Gators have cursed us. We have actually done much better against Bama the last 30 years if you can believe it.

My assessment of our division:
To me, this is the best division you could hope for.
1. Bama: of course, they’re the toughest draw, but they won’t be forever. Saban will retire and they won’t be as bad to play anymore, but they’ll be consistently good.
2. Auburn: the most bipolar team in CFB. We also consistently recruit against them in Atlanta. They are a good program, but I think our games will be back and forth most years. They also have the best knack for beating Bama and throwing a monkey wrench in the whole season to Tennessee’s benefit.
3. Vandy: Always trash. Series tied with Auburn lol.

I think it’s a great division to be apart of!

Agree I would not like this setup either but this is just someone at SECNW. There will be a lot of configurations before a final one is determined so no need to let this one matter.

While the nostalgic part of me would love to see the annual Tennessee-Auburn series return, overall this would blow for Tennessee imo. I'd rather switch places with Georgia.

Can we not graduate AL to the NFL? It's unfair to put any team in a pod with them, especially Tennessee. We’ve had enough heartache.

True, it may not end up looking like this but the SEC network is associated with the SEC so I thought it was worth talking about. It's a little different from Uncle Lou or somebody putting it out.
