New SEC Divisions

I’m a little on the fence about what a super conference like that would mean for the overall value of the sport. I get the addition of TX and OU, and would understand picking up a couple more teams in the mid Atlantic. Maybe the outlook for college football is really so dire that only 20 or so programs aligned in it’s own league can bring in the amount of revenue required to pay its players and support their athletics departments as they exist now.

Careful.............Some on here think the SEC started in 1992.;)
We just keep getting shoved further back as things continue to progress. With NIL, super conferences forming and the fact that we’ve been irrelevant for over a decade, I’m afraid that the 90’s was our last great run and we are destined to mediocrity for the rest of eternity. This hurts to think about.
GBO!!

I think the next 5-10 years are going to be very telling for a lot of programs. Schools can't fall to far behind. What if the 'Break" from the NCAA is the 40-50 most relevant programs, and your school isn't part of that? Then what. The break might not be all sports, just football. Who knows, but slipping farther down the ladder could spell doom.

Nobody knows what will happen down the road, but schools better be prepared for all scenarios.

Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan and Florida State Reportedly Interested In Joining SEC – OutKick

I think this is where he got this and I think it’s crap. However Kansas is eyeing the Big 10. KSU should too. That would give the Big 10 16 teams that make sense.

ISU, Baylor, OSU, Texas Tech should joint PAC 12 and they should move AZ, ASU, Colorado and Utah to the East with WASU, Wash, OSU, OU, USC, Stanford, Cal and UCLA in the West and that would give them 16 teams and expand their reach into Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa. They would be getting an up and coming team in ISU, a stable program in OSU, and both Tex Tech and Baylor have had better seasons than Tennessee since Tennessee hired Kiffin.

WVU needs to rejoin the ACC and that will give them 16 teams. WVU had had to travel a lot and it has never made sense for them to be playing in the BIG12. I had no idea that had an off number of teams.

I can’t even begin to imagine the amount smugness of a conference containing the likes of Texas, Michigan, UVA and UNC. The public Ivy’s. Haha

You guys better wake up something bigger than football is coming..These teams are joining because the financial fallout that is about to happen ,they all realize they need each other ...Folks covid ain't over ..The hidden war is still raging...Call me crazy but the next two years are gonna get crazy and frankly tough ...GBO...

COVID should never affect football. Why they still test perfectly healthy athletes regardless of vaccination status is beyond me and stupid to boot. Let this all cycle through and don't let it interrupt life anymore than it already has. Many places are at or near herd immunity anyways through natural exposure and vaccination.

ACC has lots of basketball brand value. What happens to that in your scenario?

Football is the driving force behind realignment.

Basketball is at best a tertiary factor in expansion.

1. Football Brand (Even though UTX and OU don’t add much more in TV markets, they bring in 2 of the biggest possibly available football brands.)
2. TV Markets (Adding more viewers for contracts)
3. Geography (Adding contiguous markets)
4. Basketball Programs

Duke, for instance, has a legendary basketball program. Would the SEC add Duke? No, because of their low-interest football program of little interest to TV viewers. Also, a small private university.

Football runs college athletics and Basketball is a far-distant second.

The ACC will not be able to survive as a severely weakened football conference with focus on basketball. They will become the old Big East in that route.

My prediction: All it will take is one school to make overtures to the SEC for the ACC to crumble and that GOR payment will be reduced or eliminated. If one school does it, 6 will try, as well. The SEC then has its pick of the litter.

2. Fan Support (read: revenue)
3. Geography

Everything else. Of course fan support is correlated to football and basketball success but it’s not necessarily everything).

Rejoin the ACC?
When was WVU ever a part of the ACC?

Anddddd this is why we have secondary outbreaks

THIS QUESTION SHOULD BE ASKED EVERYWHERE: If the teachers are vaccinated and at zero risk, why do kids even have to consider wearing a mask? Asking for an ignorant person!
