New sports radio station in Nashville will carry all Alabama games

Because broadcast rights fees aren't cheap. And because several of those teams would have games that cross over each other, and you can't get broadcast rights that allow you to cut away from one game and go to another.

Lastly, there's more Bama fans in the greater Nashville area than any school other than Tennessee. Alabama makes the most financial sense.

Thats probably true...including vandy.

Is there a station in Atlanta that does the same thing?

I would imagine that outside of Bama, the two biggest networks with Bama support are Nashville and Atlanta.

I know it sucks, but they're trying to make a quick dollar.

I won't tune in for the broadcasts or anything, but I understand why they're doing it.

Both Tennessee and Vandy games are already carried by other FM stations in town. I think anyone who lives in Nashville would be able to figure out that Alabama has the most valuable rights that are currently available.

I don't know if this station is any threat to the Zone. If it is, it's not because they carry or don't carry Bama football games. The Zone's nightmare scenario is having Plaster walk, and that seems like a very distinct possibility if Cumulus buys out Citadel broadcasting.

If you think that this rumor about Plaster possible leaving is a "nightmare" scenario for the Zone, you clearly have no clue what you're talking about. All you need to do is look at the ratings. Whether certain folks on this board like it or not, the 3HL and Tennessre sports have been carrying that station amidst slipping ratings for both the morning AND afternoon shows. The 3HL's #'s are top five nationally, and they have aleady been nominated for a Marconi award. Plaster is merely the self-appointed "director" of sports talk in Nashville. If he wants to leave, he will sink right along with 102.5.

Your numbers are a tad (grossly) inflated. I have several friends at the station, and they all agree that Plaster's presence is huge. The afternoon drive time show pulls in more advertising revenue than the other local shows combined. I think Plaster gets a bit stale sometimes, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think he's hugely important to that station.

Am I to assume that when you've had to make a decision about where you're going to live, you've based it solely upon what college football team you support?

It doesn't even factor into the equation. If I had the misfortune of having to live in Birmingham I would
-Not wear Tennessee gear six days a week, like Bama fan does here.
- Not expect to get UT games on a local radio station.

The station will fail but not for the right reasons.

Who is "expecting" this? I've lived in Nashville for almost my entire life, and I've never heard a local Bama fan express any sense of entitlement when it comes to hearing Bama games on local radio. This station is making a business decision based upon the demographics of the area and what products are available to them.

This thread has taught me something. There's quite a few bammers that feel like middle tennessee is a better place to raise a family than anywhere in alabama.

I have to say I agree with em on this.

Screw the dollars, this is Tennessee!! Puting them on the radio here will give the trash more to crow about!! Make station the flagship for MTSU, a state school. Not Alabubba just because they have a bunch of bandwagon trash here!!

The amount of clarksville tennessee fans vs the amount of nashville tennessee fans is ridonk. I see more bama memorabilia than anything else in cashville.

Were you born in Tennessee? Did you go to school in Tuscaloosa?

So you were not born in this great state and didn't attend school at bama, but you've lived in Nashville most of your life..... Why on earth do you pull for them????
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Both parents went there. Two out of three sisters went there/currently attending. Bama didn't have the field of study I wanted to go into coming out of high school, and I went to Belmont, so no football.

I consider myself a proud Tennessean, and it would take a heck of a job offer to get me to live in AL. But I don't associate my home state with the state's university. I've always been a Bama fan.

Clear it up for you?

As the bama guy said, dont go into business by yourself.

Businesses are about one thing - money. Not fans. They do what they think they need to do to make money and right now they believe broadcasting Bama games will bring a greater bottom line than broadcasting some other school.

Sometimes you have to take your fan glasses off and put your business glasses on to understand why it works.

The University of Miami might be desperate for coaches really soon. I'd get my resume ready if I were you.
