I’ll be shooting intruders old school View attachment 324545
I wonder, currently does anyone in the heat of the moment choose to withhold fire because they are considering state law? If not, I can't imagine this opening up a wild west situation. In fact, I think little would change except for prosecuting the shooter after the fact.
We have been promised so much blood in the streets that we never got. When you're thinking about what laws to pass you have to think about situations like these. This is not as uncommon as you might think.
We have been promised so much blood in the streets that we never got.
Guns in parks was guaranteed wild west 2.0
Guns in bars was 1000% guaranteed wild west apocalypse; we wouldn't be able to make enough coffins for the bodies
Unpermitted weapons inside cars would turn every street into a GTA themed shootout
Let us have this one bill where finally the innocent blood will be shed by the barrel.
Reminds me of a movie quoteI don't really agree with shooting folks in the back over property but I only have so much sympathy, and idiots shot while robbing aren't exactly high on my priority list.
No, you tourniquet off the flow of blood, so they lose the leg at the hospital. You'll probably kill them with a leg shot too.
At least if you have the proper rounds.
My thought process is you already decided to trespass and take things that aren't yours, so your values system is already invalid. I don't trust you to make any good decisions going forward. Your intent is to commit crimes and get away with it. I shouldn't be tasked with reading your mind and deciding what else might be on the menu.Reminds me of a movie quote
“Damn boy, you shot him in the back!”
then the answer
“Well, his back was to me”
Most wont shoot anyone in the back. This law is about filling the hole in the castle doctrine. By definition you can’t even show a gun to an intruder without being guilty of “brandishing a weapon “ It’s kinda silly to think you have to wait till your life is actually in danger to draw. By then it’s likely too late. This bill clears up some unclear middle ground.
The neighbors kids are playing ball. It goes over the fence. But you don't see that. Instead, all you see is some shadowy figure poking about your backyard. You're telling me you should be able to whip out your gun and execute them on the spot based solely what you think their intent is?
Damn what kind of neighborhood do you live in where kids are slinking around in your back yard ? We’ve had that happen a few times before , the kids come to our front door and say “ Mr. Onelilreb our ball went into your yard again will you get it for us ? Then they usually follow it up with can Zeus ( our husky ) come out and play with us . Sounds like you need better neighbors , or maybe it’s you . LOL
I wonder if the people that are boasting about what they would do in a situation like this or talk about this being the right call know exactly what kind of hell they will still go through in the legal system if they shoot someone in self-defense or during a home invasion. I bet the lawyers and prosecutors will be tying up your life for several years and you will have to spend tens of thousands in your defense.I don't really agree with shooting folks in the back over property but I only have so much sympathy, and idiots shot while robbing aren't exactly high on my priority list.

I wonder if they weigh all of that out if it might give people a second thought about just letting a guy run away with whatever he was able to grab and cut your losses.
As a 15 year old I walked an intruder out the front door at gun point and locked the front door behind him. The police got him up the street. I was taught how to handle the situation from an early age. Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance.I wonder if the people that are boasting about what they would do in a situation like this or talk about this being the right call know exactly what kind of hell they will still go through in the legal system if they shoot someone in self-defense or during a home invasion. It’s one of those things you don’t leave home without.
As I said earlier in this thread I don’t think I’d shoot someone for minor theft outside of my home. If they are in my house they better have some pumped up kicks and get out quicker than my bullets.
Funny thing happened along those lines yesterday.
I was on base doing my A, B, C run (Alcohol, BX, Commissary) and I don't know if you've seen some of the Campbells soup cans lately, but they've reverted back to the old style, need a can opener to open type instead of the pop top. A younger couple was staring at them suspiciously looking at both sides of the can before deducting "maybe we need to buy a can opener or something... I don't know."
Further comments as I grabbed a few cans myself included "who would have ever thought they'd have soup you had to use a can opener on?"
Facepalming in a facemask doesn't bring the same effect as it normally would.
