New York City

I get it. 3 or 4 more posts and you still haven't addressed it, but I'm cherry picking and you aren't avoiding.

Is felony assault numbers being the highest in almost your entire lifetime (not sure how old you are but I bet I'm close) a concern or just tabloid fodder?
Me and Mojo both keep addressing it directly only for you to call it avoidance, so it seems the Chicken Little response is the only one you'll accept.

Anything can be a concern if you're looking for a reason to be concerned, but I'm certainly not concerned about it and seeing a chart with low crime across the board and cherry-picking the most "troubling" number to say we should all be concerned is pretty dishonest.

Those tabloids aren't saying "felony assault is slightly up but all other major crimes including murder are way down," they're saying NYC is the equivalent of a third-world country and everyone needs to move out of cities. So your characterization of those tabloids is pretty dishonest as well, and your own argument suggests those tabloids are full of s***, which they are

I visited NYC 3x in 2003-04 and was not even remotely, for one second, worried about how "dangerous" it was. Crime now is way down compared to where it was then, but now NYC is a HELLHOLE WHERE YOU CAN'T RIDE THE SUBWAY AND ARE CONSTANTLY IN DANGER. It's so stupid and only works because people are so partisan now and cities are the enemy because they're blue, or something

Can you point to a previous post where you addressed it? I must have missed it. If so, I apologize.

I don't live there, so my level of concern for NYC is no higher than any other place that I don't frequently visit. If I did live there, I'm not sure i would dismiss it as tabloid fodder when it's obviously a trend. It isn't a blip on the felony crime radar.

Both things can be true. NYC was safer in 2019 than now. NYC is safer now than when Rudy was mayor....
Except during Rudy’s 8 years violent crime dropped 56%. Those numbers can be misleading as they were exceptionally high well before he took office and were trending lower before he took office.

*Crime during the 80’s and 90’s has no bearing on today except to those who need a but, but.

Could possibly be the increase in national guard post 9/11. Military fatigues and big guns exposed make some uncomfortably safe.

Wouldn't murder be down in general sure to life saving tech and response time.... We can save more live then 50 years ago....

The other 6 major felony categories are down/flat

Murder and robbery are almost half of what they were in 2000.

Rapes are down a quarter compared to 2000

Burgarly and Auto Thefts are down by more than half compared to 2000

There has been a definite general increase since 2019 in most of the felony categories but by in large, the city is still safer than it was when Rudy was mayor...
Why do you suppose that is.
I have an idea but curious about what you think

The one I quoted.
What do you think is actually responsible for the change?
Not the political BS spin. What did someone get right that resulted in a positive change

Strong economy leads to less crime. Pretty much saw that in every city that did well from 90s to today.

More technology to monitor.

Didnt hurt a lot of federal money flowed into city after 9/11....

Adams’ ex-aide Ingrid Lewis-Martin Brags To Investigators That NYC Department of Correction Will ‘take care of her’: ‘I’ve been good to them’

Mayor Eric Adams’ top adviser bragged to investigators that the New York City Department of Correction “will take care of me,” court papers reveal — as the ex-aide stares down the barrel of a swath of corruption charges.

Ingrid Lewis-Martin is accused of trading favors with two Big Apple hoteliers in exchange for more than $100,000 in bribes — which prosecutors say funded a Porsche for her DJ son and other luxuries.

“I’m not afraid. I know what I did and didn’t do. This is wrong. I have God and Faith. I’ll tell the judge myself. I’m not guilty,” Lewis-Martin told three investigators according to a letter from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office to her attorney, Arthur Aidala.

“Corrections will take care of me. I’ve been good to them,” Lewis-Martin allegedly added.
