New York City

Other than free Pre-K 4 (daycare costs north of $2500/month), I can't point to anything he did that anybody likes.
I was there 1 year ago almost to the day. It struck me then how bad and nasty the place had gotten. My family will no longer go into the city. It’s really that bad now.

Illegal Alien Accused of Assault Freed 10 Times by Sanctuary New York City

Sanctuary New York City has released an illegal alien back into the community ten times over the last two years, despite his long criminal record.

Jhonny Alejandro Soto-Ubaldo, an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic, was first arrested by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in June 2018. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency placed a detainer on Soto-Ubaldo, but the NYPD release him instead of transferring him to their custody.

Less than two months after his first arrest, Soto-Ubaldo was arrested and released again by the NYPD despite an ICE detainer. Between April and October 2019, Soto-Ubaldo was arrested six times by the NYPD and each time they released him.

This year, in March, Soto-Ubaldo was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal possession of stolen property before getting released by the NYPD. In May, Soto-Ubaldo was arrested for assault and criminal mischief. For the tenth time, the NYPD released Soto-Ubaldo instead of turning him over to ICE.

This month, Soto-Ubaldo was arrested by U.S. Marshals on federal firearm violations. The illegal alien is currently in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and, if he is released at any time, he will be turned over to ICE for arrest and deportation.

“What makes this case so frustrating is that local law enforcement failed to honor 10 detainers, despite Soto-Ubaldo’s lengthy criminal history,” ICE official Thomas Decker said. “How can local politicians — in good conscience — say they’re protecting their constituents when they pass laws that release criminals back into our communities?”

Ummm... just to set the record straight, per Trump, DeBlasio's not in charge. It's an "Anarchist Jurisdiction".

By definition, nobody's in charge.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Also: crack.

Not quite. My idea is that you only get assistance if you are married... and just on one child. If not married, you get zilch.

I'm in Wirless1 corner on this. I think your position is a little too strong. After one out of wedlock child you get no additional benefits.

Also, low income housing should really be low income housing. Far too often as soon as a low income person works a few extra hours or get a 2nd job their rent goes up immediately or they lose the government assistance immediately so they lose incentive to work extra or get an extra job. I think this is ridiculous. I think there needs to be ranges. If wages don't go up by $5k then no change in rent expense, and maybe they retain government benefits for 6 months. Most of these programs look at every dollar. People need some type of incentive for going back to work but not feeling like there is 0 return if bills go up in the process when they are trying to get off the mat.

I could agree with that. OF course I also think that there should only be 2 tax deductions for having children as well... That's enough. Besides, people that are getting ANY deductions for having children are not paying 'their fair share'.

That's the problem. We are rewarding the decision to have out of wedlock children.

Also, all assistance ends once the parents divorce.
