This post reflects how confused you are. Elite eight talent is 2 freshmen guards, one 6’ even and the other maybe 5’-8”. A 6’-3” white guard that everyone has spent 2 years disparaging his lack of athleticism. A junior big guard who has failed to meet expectations for 2.5 years. And 4 below average post guys. Put that together and it’s top 8 talent - nope. Maybe top 32 talentThis is an EE quality team. With Barnes the S16 is their ceiling. @me if they get past that. Been saying it all year.
We have 2 Elite guards and one really good guards. We dont need much from the post. Your post is an excellent point of why most of you all dont understand what im talking about. Its CBB you arent going to have a perfect roster. This is a guard oriented roster all this gnashing of the teeth about posts are pretty funny, this teams future never relied on the post besides having an idiot for a HC that tried to force a system rather than play a system his players were better suited for. This post reflects how confused you are. Yes. 2 Elite guards. One really good guard. A good shooter. And a good defender on the wing. Then one experienced post that all he has to do is not suck. No college roster is ever going to be perfect, but this is an Elite roster with the right coaching and system. That is crazy high expectations for a team with half the roster true freshmen and the 8th a transfer sophomore that missed 2/3rds of his freshman season with a head injury. An Elite 8 means that only 4 teams out of 350 had a better result in the NCAAT.
Not really. This isn't CFB guys don't have to be here forever to make an impact. Guys can come in early and make an impact, and at best you'll get a good player 3 years. You'll never have the perfect roster.@mr.checkerboards You’re talking like we are UK with multiple lottery picks in our beck court, Chandler is the only guy showing on mocks and his stock has been falling…there’s way more talented rosters across NCAA.

So preseason you thought ZZ was elite?Yes. 2 Elite guards. One really good guard. A good shooter. And a good defender on the wing. Then one experienced post that all he has to do is not suck. Sure he did, man! This is Mr. Checkerboards we're talking about! The guy who is going to shoot you straight, all day, every day.So preseason you thought ZZ was elite?
So the coaches have done a good job is what I’m reading out of that.Based on the coaching. I thought all year long the talent on this team was much better than it had been playing. I thought the coaching was holding this team back and would have them finishing much lower than they should. I also expected better out of other schools in the conference.
22-8 with a possibility to play ourselves into a 2?So now it’s about the next 6 games, we sit at 18-6(9-3) and have 6 remaining games:
Kentucky
@ Arkansas
@ Missouri
Auburn
@ Georgia
Arkansas
So at least 3 more Q1 games and possibly 4 if Arkansas climbs up into the Top 25…really need to avoid losing to Missouri or Georgia on the road, and that would solidify a really good resume with absolutely zero bad losses.
3-3 needs to be the floor to get us to 21-9(12-6), that would almost certainly still mean 3/4 seed and double bye in SECT and have us as a 4/5 seed for NCAAT.
4-2 would feel much better, would finish 22-8(13-5), very likely the 3 seed in SECT, and I would think a very solid 4 seed for NCAAT with outside change at 3.
