Next football transfer?

I don't care about Ferg. I don't care if he plays, I don't care if he doesn't. If he was good enough to be the starter, he'd be the starter. But he's not. And if Dobbs plays even a little this year and Ferg doesn't, Dobbs will be that much further ahead going into next season and Ferg will never see the field. I'm sorry if a lot of people are let down by the fact that he's not the next Murray, Tebow, McCarron, etc.., but I just don't see him being an impact player. I wish I was wrong and wish he was great and the obvious starter for the next 4 years, but it's really not looking that way, is it?

You're not very high on Ferguson are you?

Are you? And if so, I'd love to know why.

I have no idea about Ferguson. All I know about the kid is what guys like Hubbs, Brice, Ainge, Swain, Treece, Matthews, Rucker and what they write and say about his skillset and how he's performed in practice and scrimmages. Not sure why a lot of guys constantly dog the kid and say he'll never amount to anything at UT.....he's never played at down in a college game.

As I said, watch a few interviews of McCarron, Murray, or Tebow and compare them to Ferg. Playing QB in college requires a lot more than a physical skill set. You have to be very smart. Ferg seems more like a Tyler Bray than a Tom Brady lol

It was 1 practice. I posted this in another thread... figured it fits here too

You have to remember that Dobbs only ran against the 2nd team defense in the spring game. All but 1 of those scores he was running 1st team offense vs 2nd team defense. When Ferguson was put in that situation (1s vs 2s) he scored 100% of the time. (1 time). A lot of the problems he had (sacks and INT), he was running the second team offense. It also seemed like the coaches threw more pressure at him, including a safety blitz that resulted in a sack (IIRC it was the fumble). None of the QBs could score while running the 2nd team O, except the botched snap that Dobbs ran for a TD. Worley led the 1st team O to score on the 1st team D more than 1 time. (3 IIRC). Peterman led the 1st team O to score against the 1st team D also.

But this was all just 1 practice. Throughout the entire spring.....

Worley was the most consistent and made the smarter but more conservative plays.

Peterman was reported for holding the ball too long. Took a lot of sacks. Not much more was reported.

Ferguson had the stronger arm and showed the most playmaker ability. Although he made some dumb decisions, threw too many INTs and was inconsistent. He also showed the most leadership (something a lot of posters havent been taking into consideration)

Dobbs was reported that he had fumbling issues at the beginning of spring. It was almost daily that he was fumbling snaps. He too was reported to be inconsistent. Some of the TSR guys seemed like he was disinterested, probably because of his hectic schedule. But he was making good plays with his feet. We also heard that he was thinking too much and took a lot of sacks

The coaches will pick the depth chart based on the entire body of work. Not just 1 spring game. The coaches have been preaching that guys will earn their spots based on what they do in practice. If they guys who practice the best dont get the starting spot, what kind of message does that send? Some guys wont try as hard in practice because they think that no matter how they perform, the guy who didnt practice as well will still take their spot.

Compare what? Are you saying if I compare their interviews to a post practice VolQuest interview of Ferguson this past Spring that I'll be able to tell he can't play QB in the SEC? Are you saying you can tell he's not smart enough to play QB in the SEC by watching him answer a few questions about a practice on YouTube? Am I misunderstanding you?

So if a QB has subpar interview skills that means he is not smart?

I've seen Ferguson's interviews. Haven't noticed any subpar interview skills from the kid. Seems reasonably intelligent to me. But then I don't have the dislike for him that a lot of guys seem to have.

I don't dislike Ferg. I just don't think he'll be a good QB in the SEC. That's an opinion. It's my right to have that, and post it. Let me put it in words that everyone SHOULD be able to understand..

I do not think Ferg will ever start at Tennessee.

Why? Because of 1 practice? Dobbs and Peterman also had bad practices. Ferguson had more good practices than them.

So you like Ferg because others do? Have YOU actually seen anything from him to give you a reason to believe in him? Because I haven't. I HAVE watched Worley beat #9 South Carolina, and come real close to beating UGA. So anyone putting Ferg ahead of Worley is an idiot.

And you know that with him being a freshman who has yet to play in a single game. Wow.

I saw Worley do alright vs Carolina and UGA. He wasn't as great as you are saying. Marquez won that Carolina game along with the Defense and Palardy. Marquez bailed him out with great catches all day.

Neither of us have seen the damn kid do anything. He hasn't played a down yet. I've not said one word about him starting and playing at UT.... you on the other hand, with the same amount of data, say he'll never play at UT.

I didn't say I like him or dislike him because of what anybody's said about him. However, if everybody says "Ferguson has a really strong arm and can make all the throws", I tend to think, "well, a lot of guys close to the program who I believe are credible think Riley can really throw the ball". I know that's crazy , irrational and biased that I think the VolQuest and 24/7 guys might have a viable take on how the kid looks since they're there for most practices and all the scrimmages. You evidently read that as "KBVol thinks Riley's gonna be a 4 year starter and win three Heismans....."

The only QB on our roster who I think has shown, in a real live game, that he may not be able to play the position in the SEC, is Nathan Peterman....and I'm even willing to admit, despite the unmitigated disaster that his first start was at Florida, that the sample size was awfully small and perhaps the jury's still out on him. You on the other hand watch Ferguson play in a intrasquad game go 7-12 for 85 yds, 1 td and 1 pick, and decide conclusively that he possesses neither the skill nor the smarts to play at UT. Brilliant.

Edit: btw, when the hell did I or anyone else in here say that Ferguson will start ahead of Worley? Try never.

Well, today is after the spring game, and as of today, Ferg is not the #2. It's Worley, then Dobbs. After that piss poor performance in the Orange and White game, Ferg is not ahead of those 2. It's just not happening and I'm not sure why some can't understand that.

I've heard of people talking out of their ass, but until now I've never seen somebody type out of his ass.

You don't know the depth chart at the moment any more than the rest of us do. You obviosuly have a bias against Ferguson that won't allow you to see the facts.

After Worley on the depth chart, we don't know who what the order is.

Sure we do!

Worley
Dobbs
Ferg
Peterman
