Next football transfer?

I think Dobbs and Peterman both stay this year. But next year, if one or both of them fall behind new recruit(s), then at least one of them would likely transfer....to become the next Bryce Petty/Tahj Boyd for another team.

Petty and Boyd were never part of the team in the first place. Brandon Stewart would be the better comparison.

Regardless....hate to see talent leave....but understand.
Peterman needs/deserves another shot, but doubt he will get it here.

This. I agree about a transfer but maybe not necessarily ETSU. Ferguson is still a red shirt freshman and I honestly believe he wants to go all the way. I'd bet if he doesn't play this season he's going somewhere else.

that doesn't seem logical. If ferguson doesn't play this season and Worley does, then next season Worley won't be here, so it would be open competition for Ferguson, Peterman, Dobbs, & Gentry (Theoritically)

This would be the least likely time for him to transfer because he very well may win the job in 2015...

I dont understand why Quinn would transfer. Hes going to be a senior and would have to learn another playbook. And it seems like hes not really that high on football. He did quit playing so he could play volleyball. And it doesnt benefit UT seeing as his scholarship would be open after this season anyways

Good point! We just know that he was a reach as a prospect and he is already being recruited over. Plus if he were to realistically see playing time, it would have been during this past season before the other Tight Ends came on campus.

Im not saying hes going to get playing time. But I just dont see how itd be in his best interest to transfer somewhere that he has to learn a new playbook and probably still not see the field. If his grades are in order, he only has to go through 4 more months of school.

Scenerio that I see is that Worley will start in 2014. Gentry will come in as an "EE" and compete for the starting job. If Ferguson holds Gentry off, he won't hold him off forever and will eventually lose his job to Gentry.

UNLIKELY but

Scenerio #2: Worley gets beat out this season by Ferguson. Gentry sees that he will have to de throne the starting q.b and chooses to play football at another university and not even sign with U.T. Ferguson starts, Dobbs backs him up, a freshman comes in and red shirts, Peterman transfers, Worley graduated.

Get ya some Buc taters

So you're saying that if Ferg doesn't start in his RS freshman year, he's transferring? Highly unlikely!!!

Some players just want to play. If that means only one season, and having a new playbook, so be it. Rivera didn't look like much his first season, either...so, I hope Quinn breaks out and gets significant PT. He's tall enough at 6'6"

Looked good in last year's too. I hope the kid does well and if he can earn the starting job then more power to him and he'll have my full support. But to make claims about the kid like the other poster has done that just aren't true/substantiated with any evidence is wrong.
Listen to yourself talk. YOU are the one who started in with your "Peterman will never play another down" BS! It's YOU who needs EVIDENCE...to back up your dogmatic statement...and an utterly pessimistic one at that.

Keep talking and digging a deeper hole for yourself. :loco:

incredible sample size used as justification for your claims. If any QB leaves, it is Peterman. Just accept it.
How often do you get to see QB's throwing side by side, where the ball leaves their hands at the same split second? Incredible sample size you are providing to say the reverse. You ain't got shiite to go by, whatsoever, and you're going to crack on me for showing a video of spring practice? :loco: GTFOH.

JaMarcus Russell has a strong arm and great mobility and can run the ball also. However; I would not want him on my team.........
So, you're saying that because one person shared the same physical characteristics, that their personal failure = another person's failure? Sh!ite is getting thick up in this thread.

His play in the Florida game and the fact that he now sits fourth on the depth chart is my evidence. I made the statement I made and stand by it. I guarantee you that the overwhelming majority of Vol fans agree with this. Not sure why you refuse to acknowledge it. It wasn't a pessimistic statement....just a realistic statement in relation to the other 3 QBs who are currently outperforming him.

How about you back up your claims that Nathan has the strongest arm and best mobility of the 4 QBs? Sorry, but your first attempt with the YouTube video of Worley and Peterman throwing didn't cut it. Nathan had 6 rushes for -6 yds last year.....Dobbs looked just a little more mobile IMO. His arm didn't look particularly strong in his one start when he was 4-11 for 5 yds and 2 ints. And it's not just the half vs Florida. You don't appear to follow the QB play too closely so you may not recall this. But after the APSU game when Peterman got his first action, there were several posters commenting on here about how uncomfortable and unimpressive he looked in his quarter of play.

As far as starting this, all I did was state what is obvious to everyone and their brother. You're the one who began the argument with your very emotional response and your throwing around words like "stupid" and "BS".

As I also stated earlier, if Nathan improves to the point where he leapfrogs the other 3 and becomes our starting QB I'll pull for him as much as I ever have any other UT QB. Unfortunately, there's virtually zero evidence right now to suggest that that will happen.

Hymas trolling for info Imo. He was thinking of speaking about a rumor he heard regarding deanthony Arnett leaving but is waiting for a more solid lead before breaking it.

Just a hunch of course. If Ferguson is as mentally aggressive and fantastic of a player as everyone is saying he is then he won't wait around for the off chance of starting he'll take the bull by the horns.

But heck, some people would say Butch kept Worley guessing this past season to keep him from thinking about going pro his senior year.

Why can't we talk about this? Is it going to hurt someone's feelings?

Here's a list of guys that I think could transfer.

Peterman
Pair
Bowles
Smith
Bynum
Orta
Blanc
The other half of Dooleys 2012 class.

We need a lot of players to leave to reach 25.
