Does anyone have a feel for how good other teams in the SEC will be? Who is expected to better, worse, etc? Obviously, that goes a long way in how we can expect to do in conference, and for our overall seeding come NCAA Tournament time.
If Bama’s guards return they will have a ton of athletes. Has a good class coming in.
Auburn takes a step back. I think Kessler joins Smith and goes pro. Pearl does well when expectations are lower however.
Kentucky always has talent but are losing a ton and they aren’t the recruiting juggernaut anymore.
Arkansas is going to have a whole new cast of characters but Musselman makes it work all the time.
A&M will be gritty like their coach but they need better players.
LSU I’m guessing will be a train wreck and deservingly so.
Florida is a team in transition. Golden is a risk. Should be decent.
Georgia is also a team in transition. They will improve but have a long way to go.
South Carolina isn’t in a good position. Not sure a new coach will make a difference.
Miss. State, I like their roster (likely) returning. But also will have a new coach. I think Chris Jans will be good. He has won everywhere he has been. They could surprise.
Vandy/Stackhouse is building a nice program. Does Pippen go into draft as a 2nd round pick? He flirted going pro last year and another year at Vandy does nothing for him.
Missouri, I think Gates will be interesting as their coach. I think it will be a reach. Can he handle pressure?
Ole Miss isn’t impressive. Kermit Davis is lucky if he keeps his job.
Overall, the SEC doesn’t look very daunting next year. A ton of mid-major coaches will be breaking into a new environment. Of course the transfer portal can make a difference and we don’t know how that will shake out. UT has a lot of wins with the players who are likely to return and should remain in upper echelon in the league. I wouldn’t be surprised if some pick us to win the conference, if we can land one more impact player.
