Next years bball team may be one of the best

I would be shocked if Golden is our starting PG the beginning of next year. I think it will be Goins. Maymon should be a factor at 3 with Tatum. It will be interesting to see where Woolridge ends up. He really needs to bulk up so he can take rotations in the 4 spot. I'm not sure he'll be good enough to beat out guys like Maymon and McRae at wing

Maymon has no prayer of playing at the 3. If he does, the entire premise of this thread is nuked.

Didn't Maymon leave his previous school because he didn't want to play at post? Interesting that he would come here to play the same position.

It has more to do with the role than the 'title' of post. He is still a 4 man in our offense but our 4 man does not have a traditional post role in the offense. In other words, Maymon is fit for Tyler Smith's role in the offense not JP Prince's role. That is the difference between the 3 and 4 in our offense. The word post is meaningless to use.

This thread is asking whether or not next years team will be better. regarding Maymon, he is a slasher, a combo forward..... his future is at the 3 spot.

Next year relies totally on Kenny Hall getting in the weight room and what kind of impact Tobias Harris is going to have. I question Goins' decision making as a point guard. He often takes quick shots or bad shots. If Golden makes good decisions with the ball he will start. I think Bone is the second best pg on this team atm behind Maze so I wouldn't count him out either.

First time I've ever heard anyone say that a post is not a post. I understand that we like to say that we have a point post at the 4 position. However, the four still will have to play inside and post up to be effective in our offense. Harris will take over that role next year. Maymon will play the 3 in our offense or be very unhappy.

JP's plus/minus stat this season must be a combined -1,500. if you dont know what a plus minus stat is, it is a player like JP princes' worst nightmare. its a very important stat in the nba, another reason he wont be drafted any time soon

I'm guessing that you have no link to support this claim, right?

I highly highly doubt it's not in the positives(+).

as do I. He's a starter on a team that's miles above .500. Hard to be negative in that scenario as a starter. BWill, Pearl and Tatum might be the other way around.

Don't you love it when a guy talks about how important a given statistic is, then provides conclusive evidence he doesn't have the foggiest idea about it?

Since we are on the topic of next year, I am surprised nobody has mentioned Florida. They are going to be legit next year and probably a top 10 team preseason team. They don't lose anyone and have tons of offensive firepower coming back, along with a good recruiting class. I believe they will do big things next year and will a strong contender for the Final 4 and Elite 8. I hate Florida, so this is hard for me to say but I noticed they improved a lot from this year to last and all their players are younger.

Kentucky will be top 10 material only if they get an elite pg like J. Selby. Bledsoe is good but I don't think he will right the ship for them if they lose Patterson, Wall and Cousins. Those are huge losses.

In regards to 2010-2011 for the Vols. A true freshman (Golden) will not be starting over Melvin Goins, who has played well as a junior, especially since Golden is not primarily a point guard. Golden also plays 2 guard and that is what he was recruited to play at Tennessee. Kevin Ware will be our future pg and he will have the starting spot reserved for him in 2011. I believe Ware is 5 star recruit. Additionally, the only reason why Woolridge is in the conversation next year is Maymon won't be eligible until January (I believe that's right), so he probably won't have time to take the backup 4 position from Renaldo by the end of the year. Renaldo's work ethic and progress this summer will determine if he finishes his career at Tennessee. He has the potential, but if he doesn't get it done this offseason he should consider transferring because next years team is deep (pending transfers and off season problems, which you always have to consider with the state of UT athletics.

I don't understand why everyone thinks Scottie will be back next year. The NBA drafts on potential, and if he has a good 4-5 game run in the SEC and NCAA tournament he has the athletic ability to be a mid to late first rounder, production be damned.

Not in our offense. He is a 'slashing' 4 man.

I don't know... Pearl made a better effort to bring Tyler out and play him on the perimeter because that is his natural position and where he would project in the NBA. Maymon might be in the same situations, whuch is why he left Marquette. With all the hubub at Marquette, I would be shocked if Pearl didn't tell him thats where he would fit in here. I could easily see Pearl playing him, Harris and Hall at the same time

I do not. Add it up?! Just with all the turnovers and silly mistakes, and at times the horrible shooting pct.. Makes me think it's off the charts horrible

he doesn't have a horrible shooting % in any way shape or form. He can't shoot, but he knows that fully well and rarely tries outside the paint.
