I guess we will wait and see.

I will say there is a descprepancy between where, realistically, i think he'll play, and where i want him to play......

think there might be a similar discrepancy between his own self image and reality too. That's why he'll be playing here next year rather than Marquette.

scotty want turn pro even if he did and lucked onto a roster,he would ride the pine for 3 or 4 years because he isnt consistant enough scorer and isnt an nba defender so scotty will be here 4 years, pearl should get back to the recruiting trail and go all out after luke cothron he never signed letter of intent at nc state and on scout it said he was rethinking his committment.and before he committed he had the vols on his list

Scotty is more than likely gone IMO. I'm prepared to get flamed, but I can't name my source. Scotty is upset that he isn't getting more minutes right now and the whole season for that matter. He feels CBP is feeling too much pressure to play Skylar McBrick, and I have witnessed myself Hopson and T Jones going at it a few times on the bench during the game. Unless things change, Scotty will not be back next year.

why would a player as inconsistant as scotty go to nba early he averages 13 ,now if he averaged 17 or 18 he might but at ut he plays everygame in nba he would sit for 3 years or more ,remember marcus haislip he was 6,10 and was good enough to play a small foward but he averaged 17 a game as a junior and went pro and played a little and faded away.whereas if he would have stayed at tennessee for senior season he could have scored 20 to 25 and gotten better ,you can get better with practice but not as much as you can by playing night in and out

Pressure to play McBee? That sounds absurd.

I knew I'd get flamed for saying it, but hearing from a source close to the situation, it's true. I know it sounds absurd since he's a walk-on, but the pressure is coming from the "he had scholly offers elsewhere and you promised him a legit shot at PT" crowd.

I'm not flaming. I just think it sounds ridiculous. Seems to me a coach would tell the pressure bringers and McBee to GTFO before playing the kid against his will.

That said, I think he plays the kid because he believes him to be a legit option.

Next year relies totally on Kenny Hall getting in the weight room and what kind of impact Tobias Harris is going to have. I question Goins' decision making as a point guard. He often takes quick shots or bad shots. If Golden makes good decisions with the ball he will start. I think Bone is the second best pg on this team atm behind Maze so I wouldn't count him out either.

thank you i think that Bone is a better player than goins at the moment too... yea i know he doesnt put up huge numbers but he does take care of the ball he has ZERO turnovers to this point in the season pretty impressive in my book.. and i like his decision making alot better...

Guess Pearl should've given that final shot to McBee instead of Hopson vs. Fla. With the NBA, logic doesn't play into the decision making process for many. If a guy thinks he's good enough, someone (agent) will convince him he's right. He can always test the waters unsigned as a fall back. Hopefully, he's more concerned with beating Vandy right now.

Exactly. Maymon has "I'm the next Alex Legion" written all over him.

I don't understand why everyone thinks Scottie will be back next year. The NBA drafts on potential, and if he has a good 4-5 game run in the SEC and NCAA tournament he has the athletic ability to be a mid to late first rounder, production be damned.

The NBA 'takes a chance' drafting a guy on potential if the potential is sky high. Hopson is a 6'7" athlete that can jump and has a deceptive first step. He is neither quick nor fast. He is neither physically nor mentally strong. His handles are very below average. And his outside jump shot is still somewhat inconsistent. So they are going to overlook all those aspects of his game because he is a 6'7" athlete that has an above average vertical? Yeah, those are tough to come by in the NBA.

He certainly has NBA potential. But it still needs tons of refinement. And he still has lots to prove to NBA GM's before they decide to invest any type of high draft pick on him. No way he comes out after this season and gets drafted anywhere near as high as he would want.

Where is he going? He is not even close to being ready for the NBA.

I believe Scotty is unhappy hes not getting enough minutes. I am too, but hes not a free agent. He is not going to transfer and if he leaves for EU he is retarded and blowing a shot at the 1st rd.

Someone please link these so called mocks that have Scotty going first round in the 2010 draft. I think you are looking at 2011.

and what if scotty decides to go pro after this season....:fool:

Would be a bad decision. He needs one more year to be ready. Clearly he's got the tools to play at the next level but he'd be smart to come back and -- in the process of leading the Vols to a deep tourney run -- prep his skills to go head to head with guys like DWade, Kobe, and the like. He's not ready for that yet, nor will he be going into next year.

Scotty wouldn't be going head to head with guys like Wade and Bryant. We would be coming off the bench and learning to play in the league.

Do you guys watch NBA basketball. Not many players play right away. Hell, Teague was the Hawks 1st round pick and he's playing 5-10 minutes a game tops. Not basing this towards your post MichaelD, but some of the others. I agree he should come back and improve, but to say he will be playing overseas in just wrong.

The NBA draft is 80% based on potential.

Forget Kobe and Wade, Scotty has trouble going up against average players in college. He has potential, but not enough for a team to take him this year.

If you have to wonder if Scotty is ready for the NBA this year. Just watch this game.
