Doesn't need a nickname. When I hear "It's Football Time In Tennessee", all that can mean is Neyland stadium.

They had a contest to name the student section...that's what I'm referring to.

Someone in another thread posted this from Knoxville Fun Facts:

"In 1901, Kid Curry, a member of Butch Cassidy’s Wild Bunch, shot a couple of deputies and escaped out the back window of a business on Central Avenue in what is now the Old City. He was captured, brought to the Knoxville Jail, but escaped and was last seen riding the sheriff’s stolen horse across the Gay Street Bridge."

So I vote the student section to be Butch Jones' Wild Bunch.

In all honesty... I've not once heard the stadium itself referred to as THE GENERAL. The house the general built ....plenty.

I gather that If I actually have to do research on a nickname, then the nickname isn't relevant.

This thread wasn't dedicated to relevant nicknames.

Student Section = The Folks (on Rocky Top) ...and proceed to sell corn from a jar at games.

Apparently the "nickname" for Neyland Stadium is NAYland Stadium judging by the number of people I hear pronounce it this way.
