Neyland Stadium

Keep seeing where Aggie fans are complaining about Neyland Stadium being run down, walkways are too narrow, seats are too close together and the concessions are not good enough. The way I see it, Neyland Stadium is a football stadium where men play football. We really just want a place where we can get as many Vols fans as possible in one place where they can make a lot of noise and watch football.

Maybe the Aggie fans should take their "yell leaders" and go watch a symphony or an opera somewhere. No wonder they have never won a championship of any significance in their existence.

The Aggie complainers are right. Instead of adding another Jumbotron, the university could have widened the bleachers to fit a healthy adult male. The seating is pathetic and there’s no excuse for it when we’re downsizing the capacity.

I’ve always thought the same thing. Our stadium should just be nicer than it is and if you’ve traveled much, you understand that big stadiums like Auburn, Alabama, SC and even UGA in some places are just more comfortable places to watch a game.

You also have to remember, their comparison is Kyle Field which just underwent a massive renovation and update. There and Bryant-Denney are probably the two most state of the art facilities in the Conference right now.

Having been there Saturday for the first time in ages, I have to agree with the bleacher seating comment. You basically have to sit sideways in the bleachers, and even one less seat per row would have made it 100% better, as we found out any time someone left for a time.

Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. The atmosphere and sightlines are the best of any football stadium I've ever been in, and at least in the east section exiting the stadium was fine.

is there more legroom/space in that section with those chairbacks? I've been debating on moving my season tickets there (if possible).. .I'm in section II right now so I'm in the crappy section but I'm on the end of a row which is nice and enjoy the view of the student section, band, and fireworks from there so debating if I should try to move to the North side if something opens up

is it easy to get in/out over there on the far side and are the concessions/bathrooms better there too?
I have two in ZZ14 and two in GG

My son gets the GG tickets..😁

The difference in comfort levels with regard to seating between the upper deck endzones is definitely worth moving for imo.

And legroom is great! No ones knees in your back or yours in others.

The chairbacks don't start until row 11 or 12 so make sure to ask about them. The first rwo or two rows are also charibacks but are at a different price point.

I will say this - as it is a reflection of the university, it’s an embarrassment to have our guests sit in those sections. I wish those areas could be just like section S where I like to sit. But they aren’t- not yet anyway. And if you’ve never been in those seats, it’s eye opening. It’s exactly as bad as they describe- and that’s sad.

At the same time, the inner redneck in me wants to say: “to hell with ‘em, I hope they hate it so much they never come back.”
Keep the Visitor's Locker Room poorly maintained in the same fashion.

Demoralization tactics are in play here.

Awesome thanks for that info. Is it relatively easy to get in/out from that side and are the walkways, concessions, bathrooms better on that side as well?

Also the visitors usually go up the G10? Long ramp. That gate is absolutely horrible. You will wait for an hour to get to your seat if you don’t try to go in early. Not sure what the issue is. Probably the student gate entrance right next to it + mobile ticket issues.

The upper section where we put visiting fans is definitely among the most outdated, and it is in need of renovation. The main concourse in the lower bowl is perfectly acceptable for a large stadium

I vote that we make those areas worse to increase the whining. I rather enjoy hearing it.

If A&M had won, we wouldn't hear jack sh about Neyland.

I love Tennessee and the Vols but A&M fans aren’t wrong. Especially, when comparing Neyland to Kyle Field. Kyle Field is really nice. A&M fans are typically highly educated people with money. Everything looks new in college station. People like that can’t appreciate an older venue with historic relevance. A&M fans are normally extremely nice people, surprised to hear they said anything negative.

Honestly we could rebuild neyland in an updated model for cheaper than then all the updates and remodels cost

While I agree, Neyland is in need of some upgrading, I would never trade it for their newer, more modern stadium. Their stadium just doesn't hold the history, our stadium does and it they don't start winning championships, it never will. Plus General Neyland, may have attended A&M, but he drew up plans for a stadium at Tennessee, that tells me he knew the Tennessee fans would love and respect his vision always.

The concessions arent anything to brag about but the restrooms are maybe a little better.

Getting in and out from our seats is fairly easy

I love going to the historic sports venues like Wrigley Field. It has lots of drawbacks compared to the newer facilities. I attended not so long ago when Wrigley first put lights up for night games there. There are seats where you're going to be expected to have Superman's xray vision as you're sitting behind a steel girder, restrooms obviously older vintage, things like that. Neyland has that look and flavor as well even though improvements have occurred through the years. History oozes out of that place and you can almost smell those old hard leather helmets. If fans more especially those from opposing teams cannot appreciate that %$#@ 'em.
That smell is from those thousand bodies buried under the stadium.

The east and south concourses are garbage and actually an evacuation hazard. Been that way since I was in school. Since that’s where the opposing ticket allocation is, I completely agree with them.
That's what I was thinking when reading it. Yep, all sounds accurate! I had season tickets in up there several years ago. Such a mess getting in and out.

Yep. Virtually any team's traveling fanbase is.

The west side of the stadium is a hell of a lot better than the rest of it. Trouble is, UT keeps making upgrades to the west while ignoring everyone else.

To be fair, it would be hard to expand the concourses on the north and east sides due to the the hill and academic buildings. But, the university clearly caters to the higher donation folks on the west.
