NFL Games Thread 2017 edition

In reality it was a catch, but according to the rules it was the right call.

It’s crazy you can have rules regarding a catch not outline what is really a catch.

The luckiest NFL team gets away with another one.

Of course I’m always happy when Pittsburgh gets f’d.

They’re not winning anything with Bortles at QB. Divisional round at best

Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson won Super Bowls with great defenses

Rex Grossman made it to one

All these guys did it in last 15 years or so

Not that crazy to think it could happen. If definitely wouldn’t be because of Bortles tho

I’d say the Eagles have a chance to win it all with backup Nick Foles at quarterback too

He wasn't contacted by a defender sothe crap of having to maintain control to the ground doesn't apply, Catch and TD or catch then fumble into endzone recovered by fumbling player equals TD

My wife has contended for years pro games are fixed. I have always chosen to believe otherwise. I wonder what the line was on the NE/Pittsburg game?

Look, here is the rule. If you’re going to the ground you have to hold onto the ball when the ball hits the ground…Going to the ground trumps lunging/reaching to try and get extra yards or score a TD. You do that at your own risk. It’s incomplete…just ask Dez

Contact by a defender doesn't matter, you have to complete the catch either way. He didn't.

Yeah but he broke the plane of the endzone before the ball wiggled AND his hands were underneath???...

How hard is it to make sensible rules when it comes to a catch? the line between a catch and an incompletion is so confusing that it gives the refs complete control over what should be an easy decision. ask any normal football fan - they'll tell you it was a catch and a TD...

only in the NFL...

Brad Johnson was a Pro Bowler and Dilfer had arguably the greatest defense ever. Bortles is neither.

I'd be surprised if Foles wins one playoff game. He's terrible, but people overrate him because of one ridiculously fluky season (where he still didn't win a playoff game).

For it to be a catch, you have to finish the catch. If you break the plane but don't finish the catch, then it's not a catch, and you can't have a TD with no catch.

People are saying a runner breaking the plane causes the ball to become dead…which is true. BUT the receiver does not become a runner until he completes the process of the catch. TOTALLY DIFFERENT

Point is if a quarterback can limit it’s turnovers and a team is great in other areas they can get hot and win 3 or 4 games at the right time that equals winning a super bowl in the NFL. It’s not exactly impossible

And the Jaguars defense right now is looking good enough to do that especially if they win out and ride this wave into the playoffs. They’re basically first in every important defensive category

I don’t think Foles is that good that’s why I called him a back up I think he has a great team around him tho

Plus I don’t see any great teams this year esp If the Steelers don’t get Antonio Brown back healthy then it’s wide open for a team like the Jags or Eagles to win

He hadn’t finished making the catch yet when the ball came out.

People can argue about the merits of the rule, but under the rule that’s been in place for years now, that was clearly not a catch.
