Nick King on campus

Pastner rebuilt the entire roster. The team is his guys, guys he recruited, and they're the ones that won two conference tournies in a row and made the NCAAs two times in a row, not Cal's guys. It may be easier to recruit to Memphis than to MO state, but kids weren't exactly knocking down the door to come to a Calipari-less Memphis that was on probation.

"it may be easier to recruit to menphis than mo state"

That's all my point was. This essentially made Pastners job a hell of a lot easier right off the bat. So between having multiple top 50 guys in your backyard every year, and playing in a lesser league than the MVC, it's pretty clear that CCMs job was no where in the same league as Pastners.

While you might be able to find examples of mid-sized vehicles or larger that get better than 30mpg. Most vehicles that would be considered "family" vehicles do not do that well.

You're basing that off most families having more than 4 people, you don't have to have an suv or minivan if you have less than that. Even if you do have an suv or minivan, they're are a handful that now get over 30mpg on the highway.

Ill be glad to take you car shopping, nothing better than spending other people's money.

From Galille on King visit...

He is a huge Memphis lean and pulling him would be major. It is a up hill battle. His parents are very strait forward, If there was no interest they would not have made the trip.

If he sticks to a late decision like he has said he is planning on, it may just give CCM enough time...

And you talk about me being a barber, seriously?

The point remains, most people can make it round trip on a $100 in gas. I'd say it's much more likely his family is driving something that would get 25+mpg than some ford excursion getting 10mpg.

Me continuing to make the same point in different ways is not splitting hairs. You said the typical family car gets 30mpg. That is just not true. I tried to point it out to you in a light hearted manner, but you cannot just admit that you're wrong. I however, finally dediced that arguing about fuel efficiency of the modern family vehicle in a sports forum was stupid. I also reminded myself that arguing with you is futile. Wrong or right you will always have the last word. Thus I tried to erase my last post as a way of simply letting it go. :peace2:

When I said family car, I meant a car, not a suv a minivan a tractor trailer etc etc. the whole point really wasn't about what a family car actually is, it was simply that...yes, it's very plausible to go round trip from Memphis to Knoxville on $100, something Kuostate was implying you couldn't. The bigger point being, it's an inexpensive trip, 100-200, so to say do you think the kings actually paid for the trip is really just a baseless statement.

You guys are still arguing ridiculous sh**.

Really didn't mean for this to turn it to fuel economy, and what is or isnt a family car.

All I was ever trying to prove/say, that it was an inexpensive trip, and to pretty much say kings family had someone fund the trip is really a ludicrous statement.

I know what your point was. And I fully agree with the premise that if the King family wanted to come have lunch and a chat with CCM it would not require the funds of some shady rogue booster. I was just poking fun at your assumption of the gas mileage of a typical family car (by whatever means you chose to define car). Nothing more, nothing less. :good!:

It's only ridiculous if you aren't in the markey for a 30+mpg minivan to go to Disney next Fall. BTO is gonna hook me up.

edit: BTO, that's just a joke. :peace2:

I personally reccommend a Chevrolet Equinox, seats 5, not as hideous as a minivan, and very good fuel economy.

I laughed. haha.

I'm just saying... this is the progression of arguments on the basketball forum:

Discussion --> Argument --> Name Calling --> WTF

It just gets old.

If you could call the NCAA and have them move the basketball season up a few months, that would take care of most of our problems.

Seriously, if it wasn't for this crap what would we talk about? Thankfully, NFL preseason starts tomorrow night.:rock:

Heard that bro! I love me some NFL. We should do a basketball forum fantasy football league!
