Nick King on campus

So $100 would cover a drive from Memphis to Knoxville round trip?

You asked, specifically I might add, if $100 would cover a DRIVE to Knoxville from Memphis. BTO proved that it is entirely within reason. And if it would have cost $150, is the point any different? The point being that the trip can be made rather inexpensively.

You seem to be arguing merely for argument's sake. Let it go. Argue your opinion on King all you want, but when someone presents to you a mathematical certainty, such as cost and distance from point A to point B, there's nothing to left to argue.

You guys argue about the most pointless sh**.

Well I'm sure they ate in knoxville which is paid for by the university, especially since that's where CCM was spotted with king, a restaurant.

You asked if they could make it round trip on $100, it's quite obvious they could, sorry you're point failed.

You just pretty much put him in his place!

So if pastner falls on his face, and is canned this year, you're still calling locks on Johnson and king to Memphis?

There is zero chance Pastner loses his job this season.

If he did, Memphis is in a much better position to hire a coach than when Pastner was hired, we'd get another coach.

JJ and King are by no way locks, and losing Pastner would probably hurt a bit with each, simply b/c he's the one that's been recruiting each. But both of those guys are fans of the school and have been their entire lives.

Martin wasn't handed a job like memphis, pastner can thank cal for that and don't deny it.

You comparing the coaching gigs at Missouri State and Memphis completely disregards any point you were trying to make, nowhere level playing ground there man.

You're more knowledgable than that MC, c'mon.

Pastner rebuilt the entire roster. The team is his guys, guys he recruited, and they're the ones that won two conference tournies in a row and made the NCAAs two times in a row, not Cal's guys. It may be easier to recruit to Memphis than to MO state, but kids weren't exactly knocking down the door to come to a Calipari-less Memphis that was on probation.

You can play this card once your guys get out of the TSSAA.

400 miles each way, that equals 800 miles. Typical family automobile getting 30mpg would take 27 gallons total. Gas is around $3.20, so you multiply 27 gallons by $3.20 and what do you get.....

$86!!!!

So yes, to answer your question, $100 would cover a round trip drive from Memphis o Knoxville. Any other questions???

I need to take you car shopping with me next time so you can show me this typical family car that gets 30mpg.

Except paying for a recruits meals on an unofficial visit isnt allowed by NCAA rule.

Pretty sure that was changed after Barbecue Gate, along with the limits on texts and phone calls being lifted:
******

Unofficial Visits are generally taken prior to the end of the student athlete's junior year of high school. There is no limit to the number of Unofficial Visits an athlete may make to any given college. On such a visit, the college is allowed to provide the athlete with the following:
Free admission to a school athletic event
Complimentary transportation up to 30 miles off campus to the team's practice field, gymnasium, stadium, or other athletic facility on the condition that no sporting event is taking place during that time at the facility.
At DI and DII schools, a free meal at the on-campus dining facility or an off campus facility if there is not an open one on campus.
At DIII schools, a free meal and housing if it is common procedure to provide all prospective students with such privileges.

Would think on a Friday afternoon there would have been on open on campus facility. So based on what you posted, unless the King family and CCM were seen eating on campus, the King family probably paid their own bill.

What is an "Extra Benefit"?
The NCAA defines an extra benefit as any special arrangement by an institutional employee or a representative of the institution's athletics interest ("booster/donor") to provide a student-athlete (or a student-athlete's relative or friend) a benefit that is not generally available to other UT students and their relative and/or friends. Therefore, please be aware of the following:

1. A student-athlete cannot accept anything from an employee of UT or athletic booster/donor (e.g., use of a car, hair cut, clothing, gifts, money, tickets for any kind of entertainment, payment of long distance telephone calls).
...

4. A student-athlete cannot accept free or reduced merchandise or services from any merchant unless that free or reduced cost item is also available to the general public.

5. A student-athlete cannot eat at a restaurant as the guest of an athletic booster/donor or an employee of UT.

Yes it has to be paid for thru the admission office and it's only for the prospect and not family members. On official visits meals for the family are paid for by the athletic department. So the statement that cm paid for the meal for the family isn't accurate.

I'm guessing you only drive pickups and/or SUVs.

You been on the road recently? the typical family car is a SUV or a minivan. And no I don't drive a pickup or SUV. Maybe you guys should define what is a typical family vehicle for a family with a 6'7" kid to ride 6 hours one way is.

My dad has a Corvette (gets roughly 27 mpg highway), mom has an Accord, and I have a Versa. Grandparents have a Fusion hybrid. Just talking on my own personal experience.

When people talk about a family car they are talking about the one that the family takes when everyone goes somewhere together. I doubt families pile into corvettes to take road trips.

Since when is a car considered an SUV or a Minivan?

Absolutely not, but I've taken several road trips over hundreds of miles with 3 passengers and their cargo comfortably. The Versa hatchback is deceptively roomy.
