Nico getting contacted by other P5 Schools?

Remember how Basilio said the coaches were concerned about the OL this summer and Milton wasn’t great? People said the same “sky is falling stuff” He isn’t the only one that has floated this. Im amused at the obsession with taking shots at him over things like this. He may be wrong a lot, but I don’t see why people care so much about what the guy writes/says. The hate for him here is amusing. I am sure schools contact Nico, just like schools were all over Drake Maye and Sam Hartman last year as well as star recruits who haven’t seen the field yet. I know that Harrison Bailey got a call when he was here, and I’m sure that school is grateful he didn’t come. I’m sure they contact Arch Manning. I’m sure UT is doing the same with other schools’ players. That’s the game now. I don’t think he goes anywhere, but I don’t think it’s a stretch or surprise to think schools are contacting him. It’s foolish, since he’s clearly the guy after this season.

Agree. I’d also add that the SEC is much tougher than it was in Ainge, Clausens first year.

Clausen didn’t start until game 5-6. Joey Matthews and AJ Suggs were both ahead of him on the chart and the field until it was apparent they weren’t cutting it.

Bama has won national championships with rookie qb's. Just speculating but I doubt at the end of the season, our record would be any different if Nico had started every game, yet he'd have a ton of experience.

Probably has more to do with team chemistry and Milton becoming a cancerous presence in the locker room. Milton believes he has earned the right to start even insisting on staying in games where there was no doubt in the outcome from what I have seen on the sideline. If a change is made, I doubt Milton can handle it and continue to be a team player like he was with Hooker. This is it for him and he won't go lightly.

That is the wildest fantasy comment I have ever seen. You just created an entire fictional scenario and developed a whole personality for a grown man that you have zero evidence to back up.

You pretty much just said Milton has the lock room by a chokehold and is holding all the cards like this is an episode of Game of Thrones.

We haven't seen much of Nico. But from what we have seen, nothing suggests to me that he is remotely ready to start right away and succeed.

Bama had significantly more talent around that QB. When you are throwing to wide open 5 star WRs behind an OL full of 5 stars and handing it off to 5 star RBs, it's not exactly hard to look impressive. You give Milton the same talent Bama has this year, and we are undefeated right now. That's a fact.

Manziel...nope - redshirt and had a year to learn Sumlin's offense.
Jared Goff...yep, started as a true freshman as an early enrollee - Cal went 1-11 and jared had 18 TD to 10 INTs with a sub 60% completion rate.
Matthew Stafford...yep, started as a true freshman as an early enrollee - UGA went 9-4 that year behind a stout running game. Stafford finished with 7 TDs and 13 INTs
Pat Mahomes...yep, started due to injury as QB2 - Tx Tech finished 4-8, good enough for 8th place in the Big 12

Granted all of those guys went on to have success at the college and NFL level, but I wouldn't call any of their freshman seasons a success.

Agreed, say what you want about how Joe plays but he's shown nothing to make anyone believe he'd ever be a bad teammate. Personally, I love the guy.

I don't think Milton's a bad person, but good people don't mean they're good QBs. He leaves a lot of plays on the field and seems fairly limited on the passes he can make. That, IMO, has limited the playbook substantially.

He doesn't really throw to the middle of the field and really only seems to be comfortable throwing screens, fly and post routes. Yeah, posts are in "the middle" but not the middle like threading between LB and S that usually pick us apart.

I doubt either of those two schools are about to fork over more than $2m just for him to entertain them. He’s not going to them for the same money. They would have to offer more.
