If this was legit, I think it would be newsworthy. Notice how the OP acknowledges that he didn't hear Basilio talk about it himself. Still trying ask why that matters unless the root is to diss Josh Heupel?

Why does it still matter how Hooker looked here? He's in the NFL now. It seems the entire conversation is just a way to suggest Heupel can't judge QBs or what is the point exactly?

Lawrence is a good one.

Ainge got knocked out and did not finish his freshman season. The argument could be made that starting too soon led to his addiction and derailed his career.

Casey Clausen took over 10/21/00 and got to cut his teeth on a very soft back-end schedule.

Diving on a snap that went over his head and getting injured had zero to do with him starting too Soon. . His career was derailed for one year. Cut came back and he had pretty successful seasons in 06-07.

This season was never in the plan for Nico unless catastrophe happened. It hasn't so far knock on wood. We are still going to win more games than we lose and most objective people knew we were taking a step back. He will get snaps against Uconn and possibly Vandy if we kick their ass the way we should

The post I replied to stated unequivocally that there had not been a true freshman quarterback succeed in the last thirty years - the poster didn’t qualify it by saying there had not been a true freshman succeed with less than perfect conditions; he said it hadn’t happened which was a wildly uninformed and ignorant statement. I corrected him. Learn how to read.

I get it the internet is hard for a lot of people but a true freshman starting because others get injured is a necessity, not a choice because very few teams choose to start true freshman.

Are we under the illusion that he is extremely elusive as a runner because he isn't so what step back offensively could have been prevented by starting Nico? CJH's mistake was not going to the portal and getting someone who could replace Milton while not getting Nico injured.

Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, and Iowa all have good defenses. The point being those teams will face tougher defenses from existing Big 10 members and so going to USC wouldn’t make things any easier for Nico.

I didn't bring it up. Someone said HH looked like he was the lesser player early on. I disagree.

It’s possible that the guy just isn’t capable of reaching his full potential but is still the best option available.

The good news is it looks like Hypel is good at recruiting QBs so if Nico Ivermectin (the savior) is a bust we have options.

That's probably true but every fifth year senior knew they were a one year rental, I guess the only one that comes to mind that would have made a real difference was probably the qb from Wake Forest and may have had no interest coming to UT as opposed to ND. The mistake probably lies in thinking Milton could be a difference maker at qb but that probably lies in Heupel thinking two years of training would break his bad habits. He has definitely improved as a qb but he has a very low ceiling imho at least at the college level

I would suspect that has more to do with it than Alabama fans would care to admit. Outside of Hurts, who probably received more development at Oklahoma than Alabama, and maybe Tua who can't stay healthy. He really hasn't developed anyone other than game managers at Bama.

Arch went to TX behind Ewers and R-Fr Maalik Murphy.

I honestly think in a way, Milton showed what he can do against Clemson put this staff in a bind. Joe earned the start for 2023 because of his performance right? How do you sell that to a Grad Transfer that he may or maynot play in 2023. So now they are stuck with Milton and a freshman who isnt ready. I think thats where we are with the QB position. WRs is a different animal. We have WRs that have been in this system for 2 - 3 years now still running the wrong routes, they are dropping balls, not giving maximum effort. I expect a few of those guys to hit the portal running after the season.

That's exactly the point. To say "no one wanted to come because we had Nico" is suspect for me because guys transfer/recruit into talented rooms constantly knowing there's competition.

If someone thinks they're either too good or not good enough to compete with Nico, I'm pretty sure we're better off without them. Competition for your spot true at all level of sports.
