Nico is not ready

He enrolled early. RS last year. How much more time does he need for crying out loud? I wonder how much Diego Pavia is getting paid? He just led an offense that beat Bama.
Would you rather us go back to a Justin Worley caliber player? He lost his first game on the road at night in the SEC. Let’s give him some more games this year to see how the team responds instead of just writing everything off

Nico is not ready, not all his fault, the play calling was also bad, but he missed an easy pass at the end I think to the TE, he also has no urgency about him wasting time at the start of drives, not running looking down field WAY too long... Gaston Moore needs to start, he might not make some of the big plays Nico does but he will make the little ones consistently. I'm not giving up on Nico, but he needs to sit and watch Gaston run the show and learn.

This is why you bench Milton half way thru last year.

Nico can be the guy but he needs to catch up to the speed of the college game and he’s just not there. You only get there with experience—which he should have got last year. Frustrating to see the obvious.

OR Maybe the guy who is sitting on the bench who knows your system and been loyal deserves a shot? Maybe you could learn to read and comprehend what I am saying. Nico missed throws both low and high, got Squirrel White hurt with one, didn't run when it was open, and ran out of bounds on the last play like Milton did... Tell me why he deserves to play over Gaston?

Nico was indecisive and hesitant at times. That’s solely due to his youth and inexperience. Sucks but Nico is the future. Deal with it

There are just several things that aren’t right at the moment on offense. Offensive line play is not remotely good at the moment. Receivers can’t get open consistently either.

The self-inflicted wounds are really troubling. That has been the norm under Heupel so far though. I kinda bought it when we played really fast in 2022 - like maybe that was the price of doing business. Now, we aren’t at that pace (or at least it doesn’t feel that way), and we still kill our own drives (and extend theirs) with bone-headed penalties at the worst possible times. Bad discipline.

Gotta hand it to Arkansas. They punched us in the face and kept coming. Our guys fell right back into the usual big game no-show mode that has been a problem for this program fairly regularly since 1998.

Sitting in the system “for years” is for a reason. Nico is just going to have to play the big games. He’s going to do dumb crap, like every other QB.
But why does he deserve to play over Gaston if he is going to play that poorly? Because we paid him too much money? We don't need a Hendon Hooker back there, we just need someone who will play faster, and use his legs.

He’s only played a handful of games against not so great competition. It’s still a process. He isn’t going to improve sitting on a bench watching.

It is a perfect combination of 4 things:

1. Nico struggling
2. Bad play calling
3. WR not getting open
4. Bad Offensive Line

All 4 are working in conjunction.
WRs were open he made some bad throws. He had the TE open on the sideline but missed the throw. The previous drive he had White open over the middle but threw it low. Earlier in the game he overthrew White on a bomb that should have been a TD. The plays where there Nico just didn't make them.HE played like a freshman in the SEC tonight. He is not an elite QB right now.

To be fair we don't play our best WR enough. Thornton is a stud. Mathews is better than Nimrod. But hey let's trust our guys. Seems to work out

And how does this get better next year losing 4 starters on the oline? The conservative play calling and not calling some designed runs for him is choking this offense.

Redshirt Freshman has his first loss of career on the road to a SEC opponent with a .500+ record means Nico isn’t ready…. Late night hot takes are always more fun after a loss than a win

Tell us our prospects going forward. Omitting Kent St and Chatta, he's thrown 3TDs and his coach clearly doesn't trust him to throw the ball much against average defenses. Not sure what you're seeing that give you such great confidence but I'm anxious to hear it and I hope you're right

lol. UABs QB put up 3 TDs against Arkansas. But keep making excuses.

I bet you’re the type that will tell people cheering next week “it isn’t helping, don’t you know the history?!?!”

If yall want to be scared of Florida next week in Neyland, be scared. But the overboard hysteria tonight is truly comical

Can’t sit someone who is making as much money as Nico is.

He just turned 20 a month ago. He’s a redshirt freshman. Not his fault people hyped him up to being the 2nd coming of Jesus. It’s looking like he could be a 3-4 year QB for us instead of a 2 year and then pro. He’ll develop and we will be fine
Don't hold your breath. Florida is gonna show us who we are, NEXT WEEK.
