Finished the season 5-1 with his only loss as a starting qb to Georgia. That included wins over LSU and Ole Miss. I respect your opinion, but he’s only going to get better. The game next year in The Swamp will be very tough.
Lagway is absolutely legit. Awful take.
Eh.. I love your page and have been around for a long time but could do without your snarky remark, especially about my kid. Last night, there was a lot of speculation among fans about Nico's tweets, and you know it. It generated 16 pages of content and probably put a few cents in your pocket. Why don't you just delete the post? Certainly not the only post on here that didn't pan out to be true, and I never claimed it was. My initial title was clearly a question, made evident by the question marks and then the edit you added for anyone who didn't understand. Did you know he hadn't requested papers last night or even today?Looks like this thread was complete overreaction and amazingly, the OP and his UT Junior, football loving daughter (among others), made something out of nothing. Nico never even requested transfer papers, per AP.
In this era, I worry about every player transferring. That's not going to change until the rules change. I was just pointing out, as it turns out, an innocent Instagram post, likely about Squirrel White's transfer, wasn't "teasing a transfer", as you suggested. I'm probably a bit edgy over all of this portal stuff. Nothing personal.Eh.. I love your page and have been around for a long time but could do without your snarky remark, especially about my kid. Using quotes to reply to me with things I did not say at all is disingenuous. It's interesting that when it's feared that someone talented might leave our program..... "the portal is awful and needs to be controlled."
But when we need talent at positions..... "we're not using the portal and our money and we should go out there and pay the best players."
Which is it? A good tool for us to get the best players or a bad thing that keeps us from keeping our talent?
Hooker was a freaking 4th and 5th year SR here. And you are trying to compare Nico to that? Please stop thinking you know what you are talking about. Because you and those who are agreeing with you don’t have a clue.Go back and watch Hooker play. You can see him go through his progressions through the full field. The second the ball is snapped Nico locks in on one receiver and stares them down
I would much rather him throw a hitch to the back side of the play than do a play action pass to the front side and take a sack or throw an incomplete pass because the entire defense knew where the ball was going from the snap
So you're saying Nico is better than Peyton was, I'll take that we should win the SECC next year.LMAO. You basically just repeated what I said.So thanks for thw validation. Bottom line he was 3rd string at best coming out of fall camp. That’s not “winning” the job.
Obviously you don’t understand the difference between a RS FR QB and a RS JR and RS SR QB. We are still dealing with recruiting and visit restrictions. But it’s obvious that you and some others don’t like those facts. Nico made several throws this year Hooker couldn’t have.“Freshmen”. He’s been in the system 2 full years now. Your statement about Nico/hooker is laughable at this point. There’s just no evidence to show you’re anywhere close to correct. Maybe you don’t remember but hooker was great here. I’m not arguing that he didn’t have more talent around him, but on paper that may not be correct either. Heupel is in 4 deep in recruiting classes now. If true, maybe it says something about him. Nico has done absolutely nothing to show that he’s more talented, even with more talented people around him. I hope you’re right and he shows that next season, but he sure hasn’t yet.
The only thing obvious is you like to make excuses and are using our years of misery as the benchmark. Some if us prefer to be elite because this university has the money and resources, and that’s what we deserve. We’re dealing with very, very minimal restrictions at this time. Not any large enough to use as a scapegoat for bad play or seasons. Next year is year 5 for coach H. All of his own people. The excuses are over. It’s HIS team. I hope he does great. If not it’s on him and nothing else. Not restrictions, not refs, blah blah blah. At this rate it’ll be 2029 and I’ll still see these same ex uses for our shortcomings. And to claim Nico did things hooker didn’t is laughable. Hooker did great here. I hope Nico shows out next year, but for the most part he looked lost this year. To be somewhat expected at his stage in development.Obviously you don’t understand the difference between a RS FR QB and a RS JR and RS SR QB. I’m saying Nico performed better as a first year starter than Peyton. That says nothing in terms of what he could be. I’m not saying Nico will be a Hall of Famer. He might but the discussion was a comparison of their first years as starters. And that he had the best freshman season here as a QB. Which should have bought some good will here but somehow hasn’t in spite of a poor OL and WR play which is really critical for a QB. Oh and he also beat Alabama first year. Peyton didn’t.So you're saying Nico is better than Peyton was, I'll take that we should win the SECC next year.
Actually Archie initially wanted Peyton to redshirt his Freshman year was what Cutcliffe said so he was not even considered vying for the job against a 5th year Senior Colquitt and Todd Helton was established backup.
@Freak yours is a respectful, magnaminous & insightful post/reply. Then again...it's who y'are, mate! Vol Nation thanks you, sir.In this era, I worry about every player transferring. In fairness, you did also proceed to rip the kid's play, blamed him for other receivers transferring, and bid him aloha.
Bottom line, he's staying and I'm happy he is. I think he'll improve next year if we can surround him with good people. Hopefully we can add some wide receiver talent from the portal.

Agree, hopefully we can portal in some high level talent at the WR spot. Losing Matthews confuses me, if he is a bona-fide star, why didn't he beat out those in front of him? Was it a talent thing or learn the system thing? In this era, I worry about every player transferring. That's not going to change until the rules change. Again, pretty bold to publicly post Nico visited other places during the season. Pretty arrogant to tell Nicos dads we can discuss privately as Sean understands he doesn’t want this out. The cult following of Sean is pretty funny…his profile picture alone deserves hazing.
