Only giving a QB half of the field to work with with 2 reads hinders the development of your QB and receivers and make it tougher for guys to get open, and leaning on that type of system will stunt his growth as a QB. Also there are plays where there’s not a defender within 6-7 yards of a guy in the slot to the field and his eyes never even go to that side of the field. That’s unacceptable for a coaching staff to do that to an 8M dollar QB. There used to be a time when HS QBs would check into a hot route in those scenarios and quick snap it and get the ball out for 7-8 yards. Instead we just teach tempo tempo tempo and our guys aren’t actually learning how to play the position and the ball gets snapped on 3rd and long and we go into a play action fake and his eyes go directly to the boundary
Nearly every pass play is a half field read in any offense. Smash, stick, sail, etc…you’ll find far more half field reads in any offense than full field.
Nothing in this system prohibits Nico from throwing quick screens when guys are uncovered as you’re describing. Depending on down and distance we do. If anything most of the people on here have complained about the number of quick screens. Your complaint is we didn’t do them more?
We don’t have to call a hot route because it’s built in. There’s no need to audible.
