So. I received a job offer for a company that has day shift only! I wasn't looking but they got my contact info from my former instructor and they offered me a pretty nice job!
The money would be about the same, the benefits not so much, I would pay a little more for the same healthcare, and they only match 4% on 401k, instead of 6% like my current employer.
My wife and I have talked but can't seem to come up with a definite answer. One thing I have now is stability and tons of Ot, if I take this job i would work days, mom-thurs 6am-4:30 pm. Very rarely would I work OT.
It's a long standing company and basically owns the market for what they produce. (It's actually 2 companies in one)
Any thoughts, anybody dealt with a life changing ordeal like this, with 2 kids, married and about to buy our first house?
It's a really hard decision, both places have pros and cons. I've been told for 4 months now they're moving me to days but they can't seem to find the right replacement for me to go to days.
Edit: nights are tough on me and my family. My schedule is different than everyone else's. but I make most of the money and we could make it on my salary alone. Not sure if that would be the same if I left this job, but I would have more time with my family, see this is why it's so tough! Do I stay and make the money and sacrifice time right now with my kids? Or do I go to this new job and work less make nearly the same but have 3 day weekends every weekend !?
