She definitely could make a lot more in the private sector. But given her position and potential future candidacy, having a negative net worth around $2 million is pretty small. And it did not happen overnight. She is politically ambitious. I don't see her having gotten up Sunday morning and suddenly deciding, nah, screw this, I want a higher paying gig.

Not buying that it is financial. That's a potential cover story being thrown out there by nervous GOPers. Its political, one way or another.
