NIT hopes

If we win our last two or split, and have a decent showing in the SEC tourney, I think we have more than locked down an invite to the NIT.

I would think so as well, but from the projections I've seen we are still low on the bubble

Saw the same thing, but I don't really understand why. We took down UF twice and they are a lock for the tourney, we beat UCONN, and we currently stand in a tie for 4th in a major conference, ahead of Mississippi State who is supposedly a bubble team for the NCAA's. But, I think for sure if we pull off a good run in these last couple games and tourney we could make a good run in the .....(gulp)....NIT.

well im gonna say for starters a good reason we are on the bubble according to that link is because that article was 6 days ago.

since then we have put up 2 w's, and went from being 13-13(6-6) to 15-13(8-6).

if we can ge to 19 wins, we will be in the nit. the l s u game is very important to this. i think we will beat vandy, but the tigers on the road, will not be easy. they will be one mad team after the ole miss ripping.

we have to win 1 more and we will be in. whether it's lsu, vandy or 1st round sec t game, 1 more win and we will be in the nit.

yeah, that would put us at worse at 17-15. well, i guess 16-15 with the nit and ncaa. we will be there, i believe. possible first round game, va. tech in knoxville ?

i doubt we get a home game with 1 more win. the higher seeded team gets the home game in the NIT, up to the semi's i believe, so in order to get a home game(barring an upset from another team) we'd have to get a 4 seed or better.

1 win i doubt we hold down a 4 seed, but with 2 more wins i would think we would. not really that great with the NIT projections either though, so i could definitely be wrong on that.

im still holding out hope fot the real dance though, if/when that gets popped i'll start paying more attention to the NIT projections and what not.

we will have to win the sec tourney to go to the ncaa tourney. we will win 2 more games and get a home nit first round game.

Why do the Big 10 teams get so much love? In the Last 4 in / Last 4 Out projections, Illinois with a 5-10 record in their own conference is included in "the last 4 in". I'm sorry, but if you only win 33% of your conference games, I don't think you should qualify for the NCAA tourney. ALso, they have Ole Miss and LSU on the bubble as "last 4 out teams". We handled Ole Miss pretty easily and if we beat LSU, why should we not be a "bubble" team? we had some horrible losses , in December, which tells me they do not care what you do in your last 10-12 games.

The last four teams into the NCAA Tournament with at-large bids are Illinois (16-12, 5-10 Big Ten, StatRank #61), Mississippi State (19-10, 6-8 SEC, StatRank #63), Texas (18-11, 8-8 Big 12, StatRank #55), and Oregon (19-8, 10-5 Pac 12, StatRank #53).

The first four teams out are Cincinnati (20-8, 10-5 Big East, StatRank #71), LSU (17-11, 7-7 SEC, StatRank #75), Ole Miss (16-12, 6-8 SEC, StatRank #88), and NC State (18-11, 7-7 ACC, StatRank #73).

it really has nothing to do with how you played this team or that team, if they went by that should Austin Peay get in becuase they beat us??? you have to go by each teams entire body of work throughout the season first.

every single one of those teams you mentioned has a higher statsheet rank than tennessee, so that is quite simply the answer. our record of 15-13(8-6) doesnt compare to any one of those teams, the closest would be ole miss at 16-12(6-8), and i dont care what statsheet says they arent a first four out, they are maybe first 10 out.

i would reccomend going by lunardi if you want to go off of someone, according to him prior to this weekends games...

last four in:
xavier
texas
northwestern
colorado state

first four out:
NC St
Miami
South Florida
Oregon

next four out:
UCF
VCU
Dayton
Colorado

*im sure he will update the bracket either later tonight or tomorrow.

I understand the Stat Sheet rankings, however, without doing research to see how each of these teams listed has done against the Top 50 etc...,I can't understand why Ole Miss, LSU and even Illinois has such a high Stat Sheet ranking. In addition, as I said earlier, I don't think teams that only have won 1/3 of their conference games (5-10 Illinois) should even be considered for the NCAA tourney.

Your first statement is not true.

The 2nd statement would be accurate though if it happened I'd say.

20-14 would be the best we could be counting losing the sec title game. that will not get us in. the 20 wins is what the ncaa would have us.

illinois is not getting in dont worry, statsheet is off on that one. as i said, id suggest going by lunardi from espn.
