That’s at least twice you’ve advocated giving current Vols “the boot”. Do us a favor, and give yourself the boot, or at least put a sock in it, on openly pulling against current Vols’ futures here.

This stuff sorts itself. It looks like we have at least one guy here who won’t be on the Fall ‘23 roster. IMO we need to pull FOR all our current Vols who are working hard to develop and chase their dreams. I mean, their work is a lot harder than yours playing faux Player Personnel Director.
I hate to break it to you, but that’s how the landscape of college football is now. Guys get recruited over, and there are plenty of guys currently on the roster that simply aren’t good enough to help this team take the next step forward. I hope every player on the Tennessee roster succeeds both on and off the field in life, but not as much as I’d like to see this team win an SEC or national championship, and I’m sure the staff feels the same way. Which is why they forced players from the previous era out. Just because I’m not a part of the program in an official capacity doesn’t make my opinion any less valid. If pushing 2-3 guys out that won’t help us win an SEC championship in favor of a better player while possibly opening up the necessary funds to land that player is what we have to do then so be it

There’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t be a significant upgrade at the position compared to what we have returning from last season. I’m not saying he would be Jalen Ramsey or Patrick Peterson for us, but adding him completely changes our secondary at both corner and safety
By this logic anyone stepping up at CB would change our secondary. Even if we miss on him there will be a second round of guys leaving after spring practice and we will have a chance to go after them too. And we will also have a better feel for what we do have, including the true freshman.

No need to get so frantic about one guy in the portal.

I get what you’re saying, but realistically how likely are we to get a guy that was good enough to start 10 games as a true freshman in the SEC? Not only is he a guy that will help patch up the secondary immediately, but he’s a guy that can become a cornerstone of our defensive backfield for a bulk of Nico’s career. That along with the fact we finished 2nd in his recruitment last year would make missing on him again an even bigger kick in the nads

You didn’t break anything to me. You posted misinfo on # of scholarships the Vols had in previous seasons, and now campaign to “boot” guys.
And sending toxic stuff about booting players on this public site doesn’t help the Vols win championships.

I know nothing of this situation but it would not surprise me if he ends up here, with easy route to early playing time, especially since he gained quality experience as a freshman this past season at Ole Miss.

Plus we were very thick into it, as a top contender for him out of high school so he already has a good relationship with staff. Seemed to be a good kid from what I remember

We could use him and his teammate Tysheem Johnson. I like mccullough but he gets burned more often than my wife's cooking.
I agree, but I think we see more D Slaughter, Walker, Charles, and Turrentine this year at safety. Jourdan Thomas showed a lot of promise on special teams too, and is a freak. Hopefully he takes that next step. If we land this guy I think a lot of guys get moved back to their natural positions. For instance Slaughter was our best corner last year, but I think the star is his most natural position

Would they be enrolling him early to get him into classes just in case?
Thats my guess. It seems like this happened with Quay Walker and some guys that ended up at Auburn and Georgia back in the day. I checked UCLA’s though and he’s not in it. I know I know...it was a slow day at work though 😂
