No “God Bless the USA,” “In God We Trust,” on school posters.

Good. Let's teach kids about sex and gays and get God the heck away from our society...

On a personal level, I have always thought it to be silly to push christianity so hard in schools.

In my opinion, this is one of the biggest reasons why the church has fell out of favor in our society because we want every one else but the church to witness to the lost.

Again, my stupid silly opinion.

i see your point OE, and its a great one, im not saying that school is the place for religion to be taught, or any specific type or brand or however you want to put it. I just hate hearing about these lawsuits against the schools when its one parent whos offended about something that is student led. prime example is that HS in knoxville a few years back, they werent allowed to use the lords prayer before a game or something, so at graduation the entire graduating class stood up and recited the lords prayer. let the schools make the call on certain things

I dont really care either way, but can anybody argue that the condition of our schools is better now, compared to when prayer was in schools?

probably not, but nobody can even remotely support that causation argument.

very true, but there is a liberal train of thought that religion and Christianity in particular is to blame for many of the problems in society and in the schools. Granted there are many in the Christian faith that do more harm than good when trying to minister to others, but to make the leap that religion is somehow to blame for societies problems is equally if not more absurd.

For once, this is the truth.

This is something I have a great passion about. It is not the governments job to win souls or feed the poor. It is the local church's responsibility and that is something that the church has failed miserably at for the past 60 years.

My only problem is if they can't bring god into the schools they shouldn't talk about sex and all the other crap that is going on.

I taught school in a very small community where we had the pledge, and moment of silence daily. I was obviously cool with that because I am Christian and attend church most Sundays. There is my disclaimer for the following statement.

Religon in school is usually a touchy subject due to those individuals that are looking for a cause and or a soapbox to stand on while their "real" issues dont hold water. That being said, its almost easier to allow for the school's to determine how they address this issue as they see fit. The responsibility then falls on the Admin, school board, ect...

The line that defines this idea is "who" is doing the preaching, and "what" are they preaching about.

Case in point: I had a substitue come to my class one day and when I returned I discovered he had preached his beliefs and basically gave his testimony to them all. That's a "no-no" in Texas public schools. I then find out he was Church of Christ and made comments about me being Catholic and the Catholic faith in general. Apparently, I'm not going to heaven according to him. That's a "no-no" with me.

If a liscensed teacher cant do it, some substitue has no right to.

I went to a public school and had plenty of talks about religion with people on my football or basketball team.

Isn't that about the time that FDR's "New Deal" came out and the Gov't took over care for the poor?

I think it has more to do with teachers teaching and not chatting it up on the net during class hours.
