No QB in this class as of right now....

He ran the ball 51 times as a senior. That quite a bit for a QB. Not quite a pure option QB though.

Not a particularly high number for a high school QB in Tennessee. Anyway, the point is that displaying running ability in high school doesn't reveal a whole lot about one's ability to rush in college.

I heard the guy hosting an afternoon show on the sport monster here say he really didn't think landing a QB in this class was a high priority for Kiffin. He said he didn't expect him to turn a 4 or 5 star down if he was the right fit for his system, but he thinks Kiffin see's something in one of the guys that is already there. He said he thought his main focus was to get physical players, especially OL and DL and go after a top notch QB next year. He said he really believes he has plans to develop one of our current QB and go with them for next year. Not sure I totally agree with him, but maybe he is on to something.

Crompton is probably all pumped about Kiffin dropping the QB commits. He knows that Kiffin knows, that he is the man.

I do see the plan, but you would have thought he would have brought Boyd in. (I love the honesty, but still dont get the move) Maybe he gets after that russel kid who is commited to Mississippi St., Murray, or Savage (my choice), but IMO he needs one in this class.

That's an interesting point that I haven't heard brought up yet. Telling the current recruits that their services aren't required is a welcome boost to the confidence of the QB's that are already here. I'm not picking out Crompton necessarily, though that's the guy that Kiffin has probably seen the most film on. My guess is that he sees some corrections that can be made and realizes that a lot of the problems that plagued the position this year are coachable. That has been my feeling the entire year. The guys just weren't as prepared as they should have been/UT QB's have been in the past.

I think the main reason for turning these guys down is that you don't want to be crowded at QB (whether the talent is there or not the perception of competition still is) in order to attract an elite guy that will fit what you are trying to accomplish on offense.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, one of the guys we have on campus is going to become a pretty damn good football player and I wouldn't count any of them out quite yet.
