You don't have to have a generational player to win a natty, although it helps. Sarah Strong is not a guard, but like a lot of young players coming in, they all want to shoot the 3 pointer and Sarah is no different. I believe Sarah will start as a power forward alongside redshirt freshman Jana ElAlfy. Jana tore her Achilles in the last game in the 2023 U19 tournament. The USA coaches told Geno that they thought she was the best player in the tournament, averaging 21 points and 11 rebounds for Egypt. She is built like Aalyah Edwards but taller and more skilled. There are still about 4 players that won't be ready to start the season, so integrating the new freshmen into the rotation like last year will be necessary. If all get to play this year, they do have enough talent to win the NC. I'm not saying they will, but this years tournament should be the best there ever was, as I think UConn, USC, ND, UCLA, and maybe some others can challenge SC. It will be fun to watch.

Absolutely correct, the teams are just getting better and better which makes winning a NC a lot harder. The fact remains that what SC is doing now is so impressive, but once everyone reaches their level, will that be the end of one teams domination, or do you think another program can take over and do the same?

Am I close? Spare us the woe is Uconn BS. As long as Geno is coaching that team they are FF type. He took a team to the FF last year with only 7 healthy players, and he was having to start 3 freshman at times. That dude is the bomb whether we like it or not. Learn to respect greatness when it is forefront. I get many LV fans see him as a threat to CPS’s legacy. Listen, he is right here with Coach Summitt in greatness, she did it first, and he followed and exceeeded. Give the guy his due.

Imo, they should build a Mt. Rushmore for WBB, and I would limit it to two faces, Pat and Geno.

Time will show you. I’ve watched strong play this freshmen class is not like last years. Strong wants to shoot she does not want to bang down low. After paige leaves if Azzi doesn’t leave with her next season that team is barely top 25.

If thee was a real grammar Nazi around, they would post a LOT of corrections all over message boards everywhere as many people use absolutely atrocious grammar regularly. I don't usually comment on it though, because I make my own mistakes, misspellings, and typos as well.

While you wallow in your ignorance, you probably don't want to know the difference between orthography and grammar. Most adults just say thanks or nod when help is offered. Protesting against reasonable standards is churlish.

Exactly. Personally, I think it's on the rude side. I have to lol at people who think it's their job to correct people over something so trite as the misspelling of a word.

And, I have to believe it was a misspelling (probably due to auto correct) than the misuse of a word.

Is anybody else just plain excited today that the season opens tomorrow? I'm blessed with a flexible work schedule and plan on watching Ole Miss vs, So Cal, noon tomorrow. Excited to see where both of these teams are at to start with, one an SEC team and the other a national contender. Can't wait!

Again, it’s exhibition but UCONN played a very similar opponent to us in DII Ft. Hayes State. I wasn’t impressed at all. They have no bench and Ice Brady couldn’t even get on the board against a DII school.

We’re supposed to believe she’s gonna hold it down on the interior for them all season? I don’t think so. El Alfy has potential but she has a looonngg way to go after her injuries. Just isn’t there to give them any serviceable minutes in the paint against quality competition.

I do not think Bueckers can carry them. She just ain’t it. Geno thought she was what Clark is. CC is the truth and Bueckers is an over hyped lie.

The five spot is a major cause for concern. Strong will be a good one but yeah that center spot gonna be a lot of movement until someone emerges

You've never been one to shy away from expressing strong opinions, and this one's a doozy!

I can't help remembering that Bueckers, as a freshman, swept all the major awards, including National Player of the Year. Again, a freshman swept ALL of the awards, and from what I could gather, had had a phenomenal season and was going to be the heavy favorite to repeat the following three seasons.

Except she was seriously injured. And then injured again. She has been snake-bit.

My feeling is that now that she's an even more mature player, and one with a lot of pride at stake, IF she could stay healthy for her last season she could be even better than she was as an all-everything freshman.

I'm no fan of her or any CT player -- EVER -- but to call Bueckers an "over hyped lie" doesn't make sense since it's so easily verifiable that the hype proved accurate in her first year, and without the subsequent injuries she had at LEAST as good a chance of getting better every year as most other good players do.

I hope to see CT flame out early this post-season, but I sure wouldn't bet on it.

IMO it was an absolute JOKE she received any of those awards as a freshman. That season they only played two real, quality, opponents the entire season. Their other good games were cancelled.

They got an easy path to the Final Four from the committee like they always do and she didn’t win a championship. Hasn’t and never will.

They talked about her non-stop on every WBB broadcast the entire season. It was irritating. Who cares if she was torching Butler or Xavier or some other God awful Big East team.

She could never handle the physicality and load of playing in a real conference like the SEC or the ACC. Isn’t built for it.

Yep, usually. Everyone still shakes in their boots playing UConn and they get a perennial home court advantage to the FF most years. Usually with the easiest region even when they aren’t the #1 overall seed.
