Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

Trying to jump off the top of a parking garage roof to get away from her abuser who seems to be getting off easy.
A drunken lover's spat with accusations of infidelity ending up in a suicidal gesture ( not the same as an attempt ). Episodes like this are not uncommon on college campuses. What was different here was the involvement of two women of legal age, one being the country's best WBB defensive player and the other her girlfriend. There was no evidence that abuse occurred.

Is this credible enough for you? I’m sure you don’t care about that little girl that was terrorized since she doesn’t play for your school, but here’s the facts for u to read.

The victim, who was listed in the report as a juvenile, told officers she was trying to get away from Watkins after they had gotten into an argument.

The report said after stating to an officer multiple times Watkins hit her,

The victim also said she was not trying to jump off the parking garage ledge, the report said.

EMS determined the victim was not suicidal and cleared her without transport, according to the report.
You don't know what happened. There are three sides to every story, and you have made up your mind to believe what you want to believe. It's that simple. Yes, people lie about situations on both sides so maybe you should wait for the facts. You do realize that the victim must agree to the diverted plea agreement? No, you would rather just spout off things about the young girl and Dawn and totally disregard the facts. The facts may not fit your narrative, so you don't care about facts. Like I said....you only care about 'your' truth. If she was guilty then I would agree she should face a penalty that fits the crime. That is not what happened so obviously there was evidence that did not support a more serious outcome. You pretend to care about the drunken minor, but you really don't care. You just care about trashing the program that actually has had no real problems with the girls throughout Dawns career while dominating WBB for the last few years. Your true colors are showing so stop pretending it's about anything but trashing Dawn and the entire program.

Does not mean there's a lack of evidence to substantiate. In fact it appears to mean the opposite. According to the stories in the press, it meant AW, and hopefully the victim, completed pretrail diversion and other court ordered steps to achieve dismissal. This is common in young, first time offenders.

There's no video evidence or outside witnesses and the so called victim states there was no physical altercation. A police report or press release is not evidence of guilt. Once Todd talked to his client he knew the charges were absurd and that's why he said from the beginning it was all a misunderstanding. Entering a pre-trial program is almost universal for those charged with a first time offense. The key word here is pre-trial and it's considered as favorable in court decisions.

As an aside to all of this the SC campus police have been under fire for lax enforcement of laws governing alcohol use. Over the past few years we've had many student deaths due to over consumption at parties and under age drinking. Whether this had anything to do with their poor investigation and over zealous response in this case is something to consider.

Maybe Watkins should receive an award for saving the GF's life who was trying to jump off the top of the parking garage.

She has reiterated that she was not suicidal and was NOT trying to jump off the parking garage. She would not have been released to go home if that were the case. She would have been kept on a psych hold.

You people are disgusting.

SC fans who say "nothing to see here move on" or "give AW an award" are no different and no better than over the top opponents who want AW exiled to the hinterlands as a repeat offender.

It's a disturbing incident which law enforcement has handled appropriately. I trust Dawn to do the same and hope it's a turning point for the young people involved.

Do you think police have the expertise to make clinical decisions?

I called it a gesture as my "guess" is it was attention seeking and I've spent a career in MH.

My hope is that Dawn will not address it at all.

It's over so folks need to get over it.

It wasn’t the police,,

Do you understand what it means when in a court of law a case is dismissed? It means there is a lack of evidence to substantiate the charges. The only reason you keep beating this dead horse is based on your need to cast dispersions on Dawn and her successful program.
it was dismissed because she entered a program

Not because she entered but because she completed PTI. For non-violent charges this is the best course. AW will have nothing on her record.

I often had PTI students from USC ( caught driving with open containers ) do community service in some of our programs. A director of one of our ballet companies as a part of his PTI program held a complete ballet for one of our independent living facilities. I don't know that AW had any requirements in the way of her PTI program other than to have no contact with her GF.

So I was skimming twitter and ran into a post slamming Quadence Samuel’s of UCONN and it was a bunch of UCONN fans doing the slamming so I investigate further to find out what’s going on and on Tik Tok the drama unfolded . Apparently Q was SA ing a 15 year old girl and making advances as well as talking mad shiiii about Paige Bueckers and Aubrey griffin and got exposed . The teenager has reached out to UCONN staff along with others calling for her dismissal of the allegations and yet UCONN is saying hush. There’s a shhhht load of videos on tik tok about the situation but here’s a specific one from the accuser herself

I think it’s safe to figure out why Q does not get much playing time and will most likely transfer next season as the next imari deberry

Reminder: The Tennessee Lady Vols have a game tonight at 6:30 vs. Pat’s Alma mater, UT Martin!

I’m looking forward to seeing if the shooters who had an off night against Samford can bounce back and see more shots go in this time. It’s vitally important that players can know they’ll have those off shooting nights now and then but that they can get right back in the groove next time out.

Should be a fun game for our TENNESSEE LADY VOLS with our vivacious, no-nonsense coach and her hard-working staff! 🧡
