A drunken lover's spat with accusations of infidelity ending up in a suicidal gesture ( not the same as an attempt ). Episodes like this are not uncommon on college campuses. What was different here was the involvement of two women of legal age, one being the country's best WBB defensive player and the other her girlfriend. There was no evidence that abuse occurred.Trying to jump off the top of a parking garage roof to get away from her abuser who seems to be getting off easy.
You don't know what happened. There are three sides to every story, and you have made up your mind to believe what you want to believe. It's that simple. Yes, people lie about situations on both sides so maybe you should wait for the facts. You do realize that the victim must agree to the diverted plea agreement? No, you would rather just spout off things about the young girl and Dawn and totally disregard the facts. The facts may not fit your narrative, so you don't care about facts. Like I said....you only care about 'your' truth. If she was guilty then I would agree she should face a penalty that fits the crime. That is not what happened so obviously there was evidence that did not support a more serious outcome. You pretend to care about the drunken minor, but you really don't care. You just care about trashing the program that actually has had no real problems with the girls throughout Dawns career while dominating WBB for the last few years. Your true colors are showing so stop pretending it's about anything but trashing Dawn and the entire program. Is this credible enough for you? I’m sure you don’t care about that little girl that was terrorized since she doesn’t play for your school, but here’s the facts for u to read.
The victim, who was listed in the report as a juvenile, told officers she was trying to get away from Watkins after they had gotten into an argument.
The report said after stating to an officer multiple times Watkins hit her,
The victim also said she was not trying to jump off the parking garage ledge, the report said.
EMS determined the victim was not suicidal and cleared her without transport, according to the report.
Does not mean there's a lack of evidence to substantiate. In fact it appears to mean the opposite. According to the stories in the press, it meant AW, and hopefully the victim, completed pretrail diversion and other court ordered steps to achieve dismissal. This is common in young, first time offenders.
Maybe Watkins should receive an award for saving the GF's life who was trying to jump off the top of the parking garage.
She has reiterated that she was not suicidal and was NOT trying to jump off the parking garage. She would not have been released to go home if that were the case. She would have been kept on a psych hold.
You people are disgusting.
SC fans who say "nothing to see here move on" or "give AW an award" are no different and no better than over the top opponents who want AW exiled to the hinterlands as a repeat offender.
It's a disturbing incident which law enforcement has handled appropriately. I trust Dawn to do the same and hope it's a turning point for the young people involved.

it was dismissed because she entered a programDo you understand what it means when in a court of law a case is dismissed? It means there is a lack of evidence to substantiate the charges. The only reason you keep beating this dead horse is based on your need to cast dispersions on Dawn and her successful program.
Not because she entered but because she completed PTI. For non-violent charges this is the best course. AW will have nothing on her record.it was dismissed because she entered a program
