Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

I just wonder how much motivation there really is when the NCAA basically has already said if you opt out this year you get another year if you don’t opt out you get another year. Almost as if does this year really matter? No fans, no students on most campuses and very little social life. All this and more contributes to lackluster play all over the country.
These players are competitors and so in games they compete. Of course it matters. If and I guess that is an if, if they play a tournament, they will all be competing for the championship. It doesn't matter that they could have an extra season.

I don't see lackluster play because of no fans, no students on campus and very little social life. Mostly due to lack of games. You can only get into game shape physically and mentally if you play games.

The teams with the better coaches have a big advantage.

Good points. Easy for us at home watching tv to pretend that nothing has changed...until we look around the stands and see big cutouts of dogs and Howdy Doody.

Life has been disrupted. Sociologists and physical therapists are going to be discussing the mental and physical toll of the pandemic for years to come.

Its actually a perfect time to go to a game,,No lines at the concessions, elbow room, choice of seats,,,what a life

agree

just like there are no small roles, only small actors, same is true with players.

MSST and Tennessee have the most interesting matchups today. Both coming off a loss and playing a good team with a strong rivalry the last few seasons.

MSST is in a similar position after their loss to Bama, they could easily drop 3 in a row here with A&M today and SC coming up next. I think A&M will win comfortably at home today. After their loss to LSU they are going to be on a mission. I think their defense is a lot better than MSST this season also. Look for A&M to control the tempo. Probably a game on pace for scoring in the 60s most of the way. I’d call it 74-62 A&M. A&M also has great players to matchup against MSST, margin of victory could be even larger.

We really need to execute today. Bama is a solid, veteran team and they are not going to lay down for us. 40 minutes of basketball must be played or we drop another.

Vandy surprised Kentucky last season. They have looked bad so far, but maybe now that they’ve been able to practice a little bit they can put together a better game. Still think Kentucky will be up and down some. Losing your coach to start the season is tough. Kyra seems to be doing a great job but that’s a strange situation in any year. Even more so this season.

Vandy just seems to be terrible this season and even with Thompson don't see Auburn winning today. Losing to SC by 60 or so and they having to play everybody they had just tells me other than the one player Vandy is worse this season than last.

I would agree. Vandy has looked pitiful.

Doubt Auburn wins as well. Would have a bit of confidence if anyone had stepped up in Thompson’s absence. That didn’t happen though, she can’t do it alone. They haven’t been good about getting her the ball either. I’m still surprised Auburn didn’t make a coaching change over the offseason.

Y'all I don't think Nikki McCray is gonna last too long as the head coach of Miss State.
I've never been to their board but I know on this board after what I saw today they would be calling for her to be fired. Many were calling for Harper to be fired after our one point loss to Georgia and a few even after we won at LSU. If they have as tough a crowd as is here the place is about to explode with their play today.

J Carter first time seeing her this season. She looks stuck in molasses.😳😳😳 She looks like she is in slow motion put on the court. Mississippi State doesn't look like a top 25 team.
There's no way that MSt should be ranked higher than we are. They don't have 1 good win and have lost 4 games !
