Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

Finishes 70-59. I wonder why such a low scoring game? And Geno only went 7 deep? Poor Mir. She should start collecting travel brochures.

AEH has a nice game for SHU with 15 points against, well, one of her old teams. I bet MSST sure misses her right now. She's all like, "You could've HAD this!"

Christyn Williams with 0 points.

Evina has a nice bounceback game...almost a triple double.

Paige still looking like the next Miss Thing.
The final score was 70 to 49.

With 4 turnovers. I felt like that was important because if Jordan had a similar game of 12 points, 8 Rebounds and 7 assists with 4 tos people would point out the 4 turnovers for sure. matter of fact she has had multiple times of games like these and it’s been said on here ...

If it wasn't for this or that we would have won the game. That is why the games are played because this or that happens to decide them.

Very true

she didnt see any minutes against Seton Hall?? lol why is she still at uconn

Fact check - she played 1 minute in this game. Yeah, I know, only 1 minute.
McLean has played in 15 of 16 games averaging 8.5 MPG.

Why is Jessie Rennie still at Tennessee?
Played in 9 of 15 games, 9.4 MPG

Why is Emily Saunders still at Tennessee?
Played in 10 of 15 games, 5.6 MPG.

Why is Tess Darby still at Tennessee?
Played in 5 of 15 games, 9,4 MPG.

Injuries, close games where the coach cuts down their rotations, matchups. I'm sure you could find examples on every team.

Let's not be so quick to talk about transfers for players. It's not fair for any players of any teams.

I bet mama Westbrook ain’t too happy about her daughter’s playing time and how much she is getting outshone by bueckers. Reckon where she will transfer next year? Lol
You'll be glad to know Evina's knee was better for the Seton Hall game; 36 minutes, 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals. Doing what E does when the knee is OK. The expectation is that she will do better next year after a year of healing. Paige may be the star but it is Evina's team.

We're talking about Mir McLean, who is a HS All American. Not Piath or Audrey, who would be more comparable to Jessie, Tess or Emily. Mir would be seeing major minutes at most P5 programs...maybe even be the star player. The same is not true for the other players named. And as we discussed, it doesn't get easier next season with a bunch of highly rated incoming players who play the same position as her.

[QUOTE="stlvolsfan, post: 19504438,

"Grass is not always green on the other side". Players needs to be careful when they want to transfer. Ask yourself questions like; how many stars in the team, should I stay here to make it work? Team full of stars no body cares if Evina score half point they still win. Playing TN is her best all yr.

You don't think there are programs where those three would get major minutes?

But for some it's not about how much they play the first year or two, they might just love being part of a great program like Tennessee or UConn.

I'm just not a fan of transfer talk for any teams or players.

lol right

Not knowing anything about their particular situation, I would be cautious about introducing a new personality to the team especially one that was sitting for a good team. They may not always be the right fit for the team. If they are, great but it needs to be evaluated on many factors, not just talent alone.

No, I don't think any of those players other than Mir would be getting major minutes for a P5 contender. Maybe a cellar dweller, but even that...that's a stretch. They are bench depth players at best.

I think your second statement is accurate, which is why a player like Piath or Tess would choose to play for a UConn or Tennessee knowing that they are not going to play much. But for someone like Mir who has the potential to play at the next level, she would be wasting her career languishing at the end of a bench on a team with players that are even more skilled than her.

I see a lot of first round WNBA projection for Evina I think she will go in the draft if she is chosen. I don't know if she will choose playing for pay over another year in college. I would think first round she would.

Her knee had nothing to do with her goose egg vs. SC; Victaria Saxton had more to do with that. If her knee was an issue, she wouldn't have been playing during crunch time in the 4th Q and OT.

She's another player that is poised to lose minutes next season with Fudd and DeBerry coming in. I'm not convinced that she won't opt to graduate from UConn after this season.

I don't think this is any different from the way the transfer model worked for years up to now. I think it's the coach's job during the initial prospecting to determine if the players is the right fit.
